Default Tips on what to inspect at the dealer when picking up my new Z

I am picking up my new 05 Roadster on Monday from the dealer. Does anyone out there have any particular items related to the Z that I should check prior to accepting the car? Thanks!

Check for swirl marks in the paint from the lot porters washing it, that's the only thing I noticed when I took delivery of mine.

Oh, and be sure to tell them not to mount the front license plate. Order a Zee-bracket and install it yourself, takes a couple of minutes.

Also just check the car for minor exterior dents and make sure none of the wheels have been curbed. You dont know who has gotten in and out your new car. Dents do happen I have seen many cars leave the dealership that I work at with 1 or 2 minor door dings.

Before you have your papers signed and take delivery of the car, you can point out the imperfections of the car and you want those repaired before you take delivery. They should issue a work order on that same day before you take delivery, you or the dealership can arrange a time when to bring your car in to have the imperfections fixed.

My car had some marks on the paint and I had them put it in writing that they'd buff it out. I'm taking it in this week to have that done.

If they already drilled holes in your bumper for the license plate, there's really nothing you can do.

Just be sure to get whatever they agree to in writing.

Ditto everyone above.

Go over the car with a ‘fine tooth comb’, look everywhere; under the hood, under the ‘trunk’ floor, etc.

BE SURE YOU TAKE DELIVERY IN DAYLIGHT. Never pick up a car at night.

Be sure it looks exactly as it did when you agreed to the sale.

Take a digital camera; photograph any future problem area they are promising to fix.

The main thing is not to get caught up in the emotion of the moment and overlook something. It is a very exciting event, and you want to drive that baby home NOW. Just relax, take your time, and be observant.

Anything that needs to be done, or anything they promised to give you, or anything they promised to do in the future; get in writing before you leave the lot. Once you drive off, you’re a stranger to them. Nothing promised verbally means anything.

Good luck and enjoy.

Check the lower front bumper. Mine was dinged from the truck they loaded it up on. they even tried to hide it so I wouldn't see it.

Swirl Marks. Make sure that when you pick up the car that you look closely at the car in direct sunlight. Many times you can not see the scratches in shady conditions.

DO NOT Pick up the car at night!!

Also I would look closely at the wheels. If it has 18" wheels it is very easy to put curb scratches on them. Make sure that somebody on a test drive did not **** up.

On my 2004.5 DB Roadster the wheels had 1 little blue paint dot on each wheel. Make the dealer take them off.

Gas lid. Make sure it opens when you hit the open button. I think there is a TSB on this.

True. Once your gone they could care less about your problems with your car. Check for a full tank of gas or at least a voucher for a fill up. Good luck, have fun, and drive the **** out of it.
