Default Jim Wolf Computer

Jim Wolf computer made big difference on my 83280ZX Turbo. When is Jim Wolf going to release one for the 350Z?

They have something in the works...

At first their turbo set up is going to just use a bigger fuel pump... Then they will have another version that use's a new ECU...

They never tried because there was no money in it.

What makes you believe that there would be no money in it. If it has the same impact on the 350z as the 280ZX it would sell like hot cakes. It would be the cheapest easiest mod for horsepower.

Nissan sold less than 4000 300ZX's in 1996. I'm guessing less than 10% of those owners probably don't know that JWT exists. Therefore, there was no "incentive" for JWT to R&D the 1996 OBD-II ECU when they can spend the time and money to R&D other products on other Nissans and Infinitis.

Just remember, that hte ECU itself isn't what makes the difference in turbo applications. The ECU allowed you to turn up the boost levels safely, which is where you get your extra performance. The JWT ECU for the n/a Z32 didn't do very much, and I don't expect that the gains will be that much on the Z33. Look at TS-reflash numbers, it gives some gains, but nothing dramatic.

Jason, are you sure about the no-flash solution on JWT's TT? It would be dissapointing if they just threw a bigger fuel pump at it and hoped for the best. I've been waiting for either JWT or APS to get CARB approval, but if JWT isn't going to offer an ECU reflash as part of their solution, then APS is simply in a different class.

Nissan spends about 5 million US per ecu software program [just for G35 family for US use] to write test rewrite retest retest rewrite retest the code.........a years work for a dozen people.
Even a flash tiny update reprogram can cost $500,000 to change 2 parameters due to testing effects on OBD2 emissions on multiple cars/model variations.

Since OBD2 calculates on the fly unlike pre 96 which used a basic WOT look up table the whole reprogram issue is 100 times more expensive.

While a $695 ecu reprogram was affordable by a few a $5,000 one would be passed by almost all.

The Japanese have brotherinlaws who steal parts of the Nissan code or actually Nissan employees who rewrite snippets and sell on blackmarket..........or just old initial programs that were rejected along the way.
The checksum code word gets most of them.

Pretty much stuck with Technosquare as the Japanese HighPo/MidEastern code is set for 100 average octane. Our 93 would be knock city even with every available octane booster short of $6/gal racing fuel.

Easy to change speed limiter/rev limiter as they are still in a lookup portion of EPROM as different countries have different speed limit requirements/tires.

its very hard for them to keep up with all the new ECU programs that our cars have. There are many different versions that the new 350z cars have, and it's hard for anyone to reprogram and crack one, let alone all of them for just a few years. Its nt cost effective really.
