i went to south coast plaza today and i put my car at vallet since the parking was packed... then later finished my shopping and went back to pick up my car then as soon as the car was delivered i handed him a 5 for tip... then the guy says thats it bro? you should have a lot of money if your driving one of these so i handed him another 5 when vallet parking itself is 6

 

I would have took the 5 back

Wow, I'm a valet and have never said that. There's no excuse. I would have told him he was lucky that he actually got to drive my car.

 

Yeah you should have janked your 5 right out of his hand. Thats like being a waiter and asking if you need change... OF COURSE I NEED CHANGE. Maybe if you didn't ask for it I'd say "you know what keep it" but now that you just asked, your getting tipped less.

When you have to pay for valet parking I dont tip... If I do I tip a buck... I didnt valet there because I found a spot as soon as I got there and I had too much stuff in my passenger seat...

The guy sounds like he was being a smart ***... A good tip to a velet is 2 bux...

I like valet parking... I stand there and watch how many times they stall my car...

I have had valet people say to me "Too much power" hahah

In vegas valet parking is free... So I always tip 2 bux each way...

I was at Miyagi's on friday and when i pulled up the guy offered to park my car in up in front, I was about to tip him for that but he left before i could pull my wallet out. Turns out the guy owned a Z as well, when i was leaving he was asking me a few things about the car and where he can gt parts for his.

 

Bwahahahaha! Tilton strikes again. I'd love to watch a valet try to take your car into first gear. Again, and again, and yet again. Too good.

 

dankkx, you are too nice....i would never have given him that extra $5, nor the first $5 bill you handed him, i usually tip $1-2 for valets, that's more than enough....

 

i'm surprised you let someone touch your car, i had all four air pressure wheel caps stolen from valets before which i didn't realize till the tire pressure gauge went off, of course this was on black friday at a large outlet with hundreds of people.. sooooo crowded that i gave into the valet but only as a last resort, but i've learned my lesson of checking every aspect of the car when returned only if valet parking is my last option otherwise.... NO ONE touches the car except me not even the GF hehe

 

I usually dont like to use valets for fear that some kid with more zits than brains will want to do a few hot-laps around the parking lot when I go inside.

 

I would have taken the $5 back too!

Happened to me with my other car...went club hopping one night and there the valet and I suppose his buddy was crusing by me 40 mins later after drop off IN MY CAR - PLEAASE I dont valet my car anymore since that experience

 

Sorry to be off topic but this might make you feel better, Dankkx1. Yesterday some guy in his beat up car asked me if I could help him out to buy some gas. Being that it's Xmas time and all I hand him a dollar and he goes "that's it?"

 

Nothing wrong with being a generous tipper during the Holidays...$5 is plenty for valet service if you get your car back the same as you gave it. It was rude of the valet to question the amount of your tip and such behavior will not serve him/her well in the long run.
