Default tint and grease streaks...

Seems my new Z is afflicted with the grease streaks many have mentioned on this forum. Will this affect getting my windows tinted in any way?

I want to go with 30% tint on the side and back, but don't want to do this if the grease/residue from the window motor is going to cause problems....

Just go to the dealer and have the problem remedied before you get it tinted. Better than leaving it alone and having your tint get messed up...

Been to the dealer... they have given me a "wait and see" for now. Not knocking them on this, they have been great to deal with so far. I had them document my concern and explained that it appears to be a known issue on the Z and other Nissans. They said their experience has been the streaking will go away with use (2-3 weeks at most).

It I still have a problem after that, they said to bring it in for them to look at. Guess I'll just wait until the problem is resolved before I go for my tint...

The real question is how many times have you rolled the windows up and down? you coudl have 10,000 miles and if you had only rolled the windows up and down once, the problem probably wouldn't go away. I still have the streaks at 1500 miles but the windows have only been up and down maybe 10 times each.

This is true......However, I put my windows up and down at least 15 times a day..I like the fresh air, however its getting cold here in NJ. Also, I have noticed it getting worse and I probably clean the grease once a day....Hopefully the dealer can fix this stupid problem........

Yes, better to have the problem fixed before tinting. I had tinting applied 1 week after delivery. Now, I have a permanent mark embedded in my tint at the topmost travel of the window roller. It looks like the roller grease etched the tinting material while the front windows were down for a fewq days. Now, I can wipe the excess grease off, but not the mark left. NISSAN'S response to me... get this... "We didn't tell you to have the windows tinted". I feel like I'm pissing against the wind with this issue.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I have to say that my dealer has been exceptional through my entire 350Z experience.

Knowing that it is a problem that won't go away, I'll probably have them work on it when I go in for my first oil change after break-in (1200 miles... currently 6 days driving and 500 miles on the odometer!)
