Why do we all say "PULL"...

I have heard in other sports (racing jet-ski's for instance) where the person in the lead would say "I was pullin' that guy!" - Like the one in the lead is pulling the others by an imaginary tow-line.
Maybe that's where it came from.

Who am I to say, but, I think it probably goes back to the Romans!
When riding in a chariot you are standing and you have to hang on to the reins. And the horse pulling is what you feel. I'm sure that's how they bragged about the power of their steeds, "he really pulls!".
"Think there ever was a "Zteed"?

I only use pulling when I am ctaching up to the driver in front. Like an EVO with a good launch that I reel in
I lways thought of it like pulling in a car with almost like an imaginary rope...man that sounds weird now that I said it out loud

it has to do w/ the way most people's brains register terms, it's more convenient to understand pulled instead of pushed... it could be beacause of a lot of different reasons (depending on what you want to believe your subconscious controls what you want to believe and understand)
maybe the term pulled is used so frequently that it influences our way of understanding, maybe when cars are engaged(bound) in a race the car in front seems to be pulling the car/s behind, or maybe it goes back to the ancient Romans...
the only way to get a correct answer for your question is to ask yourself, because you already know the answer, you probably just don't know that you know or just not sure of yourself
it all comes down to convenience... we use the term pulled because it recquires the least amount of effort (thinking) to understand and explain
