Around 21-23 actual mpg for me w/mostly highway driving. Unfortunately the cold weather isn't helping.

The trip computer is usually 0-1 mpg too high.

That CAN'T be right for any Japanese car. What are you filing it up with, 64 octane? Bartles and James? Freakin' skim milk?

21-23 MPG with a redline once a day. Headers helped the number even more.

RX-8s are rotary and the latest 'modern' example is quite a thirsty pig. I read someone compare it to the torque of a four cylinder, the power of a six cylinder, and the fuel consuption of an eight cylinder. It's a shame because the I really like all other aspects of the car.

desiZ.....I like those charts! Last time in city driving 19.4.
Now my Z is in storage for the winter and by the way I see another 2 inches of added snow outside. I calculate my own.
Anyone interested...here's what I do. I fill up the tank. Reset the trip odometer. I fill up again. I write down the exact amount of gallons. I take the odometer reading and divide by the amount of gas that was put in the second time. lol

15mpg, 17mph average -- light to light, city. I also tend to drive more in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and not much in 5th or 6th. 3K RPM average maintained in city.

I use to have a 2003 and now have a 2004 Track Model. During both cars break in a experienced similar numbers of 15-17 city driving. After around 3k or so it gradually went up to 21mpg. I agree with the above posters saying its how you drive your car and it break in period you will experience lower numbers. Our cars can suck down the gas if you put it into 4800rpm or higher! So I remember after my break in of my cars I was always WOTing all over town because the Z is so much fun! But that of course sucks down the gas.

Default Mileage

I've got 15,ooo miles and the best I've gotten is 25.1 on a full tank. The worst is 22.3. I drive a mix of highway and surface streets in Phoenix. About 24 miles to work. I have a 2003 Touring. 6 speed manual and short shift most of the time. I don't feel the need to go through all 6 gears when I can get by with 1st, 3rd and 6th.

Mine gets around 30 ($$$ per week). That equates to 21-22 MPG combined highway/city.

Saw an RX-8 last week with a plate that read "13 MPG"
