Once all the snow and ice are gone this spring, I'll be shopping for 4 new tires for the Z. Discounttiresdirect.com has Nitto 555's for what seems a reasonable price. I did a search on here for opinions, but looked like they were all old threads. I'd like some opinions on these tires from guys that have had them on for awhile. Are they grippy?
Also, where do I take the tires and wheels to have them mounted? The dealership? Just any old tire place? About how much will they charge for the job? Thanks again.

 

Do you mean the Nitto 555r Drag Radials? Those are what I am getting next for my Z. Really good grip daily driving, outstanding at the track/street when you heat them up with a burnout.

I thought discount tire price includes mount, balance, warranty?

 

The ones I'm talking about are called Nitto 555 NT Extreme Performance.

 

I have the Nitto 555 on my car, and they are good for the price. I do like them, but i don't like them at all in the rain. On dry, they're good.

 

I would actually recomend the Bridgstone s03

 

I had the 555 NX on the front tires of my 2000 Trans Am, I think they're awesome for the money.

I have these on now. I'd agree that in the rain, they're not the best but they're still very good. When dry, I'm extremely pleased with them. Click the image in my sig to see what I'm running with.

For the money I think they're excellent.

 

I have the Nitto NT555 tires also and have been nothing but happy with them.

 

got em, 245/40-18 on the front, 275/45-18 on the rear, although im switching the rears to 285/40-18 come spring. i love them, i have lost traction in rain a couple of times, but no biggie.

where are you from tjhands? if there is a discount tire around you i would take it there, they carry the tires and can mount/balance for you

I would also look at the Kumho Ectsa MX's fora good performance tire at a good price. They can be a little noisy though.

 

a buddy of mine runs Nitto 555s on his Ford Lightning and really likes them.

I had Bridgestone S03s on my Z, but have now replaced them with BFG g-Force KDs... better than anything else I've experienced first hand. I'll never put anything else on my Z (unless it's a full comp tire).

The downside to the KDs are that they are poor wet weather tires and assymetric... so no tire rotation at all. If you can live with that, they're the stickiest stuff around!
