my guess is that he has the 6mt model obviously with brembos, but is needing a narrorer rim to put some winter tread on. and who wants to go drop a wad of cash on 18" rims that are too narrow to even be any use.

but I have no reccomendations for you.

On why you would want 17s:

17 inch rims give you a wider selection of winter tires. If you can find a tire in 17 and 18 inch sizes, the 17 is usually quite a bit cheaper. Since you're running in low grip conditions anyway, the shorter sidewall of the 18 inch rim will not get you better handling anyway.

Can anyone recommend good winter tires for the 17" wheels. I'm going to get another set of rims (18"s) in the beggining of next summer. Keep the 17"s for winter only. Also, does the computer have to be told when you switch from 17" to 18" and vice versa.
Thanks in advance. -m

the problems only come when you change overall diameter. in which case youd have to calibrate the speedo, but if your swapping back and forth, Id stick with one tire size.

that was unclear... I mean keep the speedo calibrated to one size, your 2 sets of tires dont have to be identical. close would be good for your own good to keep the speedo semi accurate.
