My torque experiment....

Was riding around with the wife Saturday morning. One of those new Bullet Mustang GT's kept hanging around. He finally went by and gassed it a little making sure I heard him. It was very loud. Not a bad looking car if you like those things. Anyway, we approach a short right hander leading to the highway and he slows in front of me due to traffic. I hear him downshift because he was reving at a fairly high rpm. I went to second and I was at 2500. As we entered the highway, slowly at first, he moves to the fast lane to pass the slower guys and jumps on it hard. It puffed a little smoke and made a LOT of noise. Of course I had anticipated his move and got the perverbial permission from my wife to test the torque curve on our DB Touring. I floored it at about 2800 just to see how I could keep up with the GT. Well, I got out of it at 6000 without shifting again because I was closing on him rapidly.
I thought this little V6 did pretty good. From 2800 to almost redline it pulled like crazy. Even though I waited on him before I gassed it, I still gained on him quickly enough that I had to back off before I shifted to a higher gear.
And that was the end of it. No street racing endagering the public, so don't flame please. Just a little torque test to around 60 MPH.
I'm very impressed, can't wait for another test.
