Default New Car Check List

If all of you were buying a brand new Z (35th) what would you have written into the paper work before you settled on a deal, and what things would you look over- check through when it came time for delivery? Thanks.

My list as follows:

1. If you can, have a freeway run and go through all the gears. If it grinds, it ain't a good sign. Make sure you do the test drive before you sign the papers. It's easier to test drive a car on a lot than to have one ordered in this case. Let them know you want to inspect and test the car, before you sign your life away.

2. Inspect the paint job of the Z carefully, sometimes you will find paint chips and you can have those repaired.

3. Play with all the nice electronics around the driver seat. A/C, radio, wipers, back wipers, defroster, the auto windows, etc. Bring a CD to play your favorite music (make sure you eject it out too).

4. Check the Odometer and trip meter, if its in ordered car, it should have very low milage.

5. A new Z should come with a full tank of gas. Hopefully, they put in premium. (Most of the time you get the full tank of gas, after you sign your life away)

6. Your car should smell new, if there is something foul, that ain't good.

7. Make sure the temporarty ID is on your windshield. (After you sign your life away)

8. Tell the salesman that you changed your mind and decided to buy another car. Than let him know your joking.

9. Make sure you get copies of documents you signed. If you get an extended warranty package, make sure you got all the information in regards of the warranty pakage.

10. Once you leave the lot, it's the last time you will have the upper hand on the dealer.

On the contract at the bottom the dealer will have little add ins like paint protection, scotch gaurd, etc. That stuff adds up, so make sure thats not in your contract or their is no amount.

If you're ordering one instead of taking one from the lot: "Subject to test drive." This is your way out if you don't want it and get your deposit back.
