I brought mine in last friday. if they come back and tell me "weeks" Ill drop that peice of **** on their counter and ask for a refund on the radio. as it is I was willing to accept a refurbished part if it would fix it.
got mine replaced this morning......
it does fix the bass, but the Bose system still sounds like sh*t.
one of these days I'm gonna yank that crapwad Bose sorry excuse for a system out of there.

Tell me something, Frank. Does the fix sound as good as when you pulled the mic and cranked it. I know you tried the same thing I did and I was IMPRESSED when I unplugged the mic and cranked the system, but ran into the surging problems once I lowered the volume. I'm thinking of going to a compotent audio shop and have them figure out how to completely remove the AudioPilot from the system.
Sorry Droid. I figured there were probably a lot of posts already about the after effects of the swap. I haven't been on much lately.
The wacky stuff is all gone. No crazy volume changing and no booming bass. Listening to the radio is tollerable now.
Now that the problem has been solved, I guess I can say that the sound quality for the radio is ok. Nothing exeptional and about what I would expect from a standard factory system. I would have hoped a "premium" system would have sounded a little better. I would put it about on par with the stereo in the Taurus I rented while away on business the other day.
The CD actually sounds quite good though.
I would recommend getting the swap done as soon as possible.

I had my amp installed yesterday... cds sound great... not fantastic.. but great compaired.... FM still goes up and down with road noise.. not as bad as it did... Sub sounds great now...
I also got a light scratch from someones coat zipper so the dealership is going to buff that out... sheesh....
Later on.. I will be replaceing the head unit and speakers and sub with aftermarket equipment... flip screen am fm cd mp3 cdr cdrw unit... but .. not for a bit...
