Yes, but only because people don't think to read and don't know they are just bidding on the pre-order slot.

Some guy tried to do that here, and the dealership told him to take it down or he'd lose his deposit... if you can get away with it, sure... go for it.

I agree with Da Gimp, almost. You do clearly state that they are bidding for the right to buy the car and that they're responsible for the cost of the car.

I'd say most folks aren't reading the rules of the auction in entirety. Anyone willing to pay 10k over MSRP can have my Daytona Blue performance model today for 1k over MSRP. Sorry, mine has almost 900 miles.

velo,
I would think twice about doing what you're doing. I know it sounds great now, but its going to back fire. Clearly anyone bidding that amount of money thinks they are bidding on the car itself- despite your detailed account. Nissan made a big stink about these Ebay auctions and warned against them. The truth is- you can't guarantee your spot- just because you are giving up your spot doesn't give you the authority to give it to someone else. That right is given by the dealer- and usually given to someone who's been waiting a while. So.... first off- no one bidding that kind of money knows they are bidding on just a spot..... and second, any bid you get- you are not in a position to gaurantee delivery of what you are offering. You may sell your spot and some happy purchaser may walk into the dealer and they'll laugh at him/her.

Sometimes when something seems to good to be true, it is..... just some friendly advice- don't do it- just going to turn into a legal battle and a huge headache

what you can do is sell the car tho... not the spot, but the car. you have to take delivery, perhaps you could even title it and take out the loan in their name, Im not sure what the rules are. but I dont see why the person that preordered cant take the car out in someone elses name. otherwise they can come with you to the dealer, and take delivery with you, and yes they will be the "second" owner, but not literally.

as for insurance, sorry to hear it. I had the same problem, I had to go onto my own policy, or my sister did... were not sure yet actually. Im 19 with no tickets tho.

Default Do you own what you are selling?

I am not a laywer, but it seems to me you are selling something you do not own. I am pretty sure that despite your warning, the people bidding are bidding on the car, as your right to buy the car is worth little as I believe NNA has stated that this is non-transferable.

This could get interesting. Especially since you have clearly stated on this web site you are only selling the right to buy the car.
