hey guys what type of tranny fluid do the z's come with? try changing to something better such as redline tranny fluid or gm synchromesh.

it is so much better. a few of us mazdaspeed protege guys have about the same thing that you are describing..especially in the cold weather. After changing tranny fluids it was much better.

Also are there any kind of shifter bushings you can put on the Z....they also made a huge difference on my car.

I know this is going to sound weird, but I know the shifter feels rough. It feels like you are dragging metal across metal.

To me, I kind of like it. I can almost see the linkage actuate as I shift.

Some people won't like this, I understand. I guess I'm strange.

When I get old and buy a BENZ it'll definitely shift like butter, and I won't be doing the shifting either. Easy as point-and-shoot...

But for now, I like my raw sportscar, it sure doesn't feel like I'm going to break it, and I slam hard on it all the time.

I agree...try and use the GM synchromesh friction modified tranny fluid...that stuff is the best tranny fluid around...i live by this stuff...it takes the nothy feeling out of the tranny..and is butter smooth...due remember that it does brake down easier than other tranny fluids...so u gotta change it more ofter...but it feels great when new
