Did it take anyone else some time...
to get used to driving manual. I mean I know how to drive but this car is just so much different. Granted I've only had it two days, and I know it just takes getting used to and within a few weeks I'll be totally fine with it. But I just really need to hear that I'm not the only one who had toubles when they got started. I feel bad for the car some times. Please tell me I'm not alone lol

rev it to about 4000k and dump the clutch, works like a charm...
haha
really, it does take some time the clutch can be strange on our cars, you will get used to it real fast. Thank you for not buying a automatic.

I thought it was really hard to get use to. I have been driving manuals my whole life now and I thought the Z was by far the hardest to figure out. After having the car for about 7 months now, I still find it somewhat hard, but I am getting alot better.

it took a few days to become really comfortable getting into 1st gear. as far as the people that say the Z is a harder stickshift to drive, i dont know why but i think the complete opposite. i think it is easier to drive than cars like civics that have really soft clutch pedals and pedal movement. that's probably just because i'm used to driving the Z though.

I have had this car for 2 years now, and there are times when I still have trouble keeping 1st gear smooth!
But each Z is different.. when I sold Nissans, I naturally got to drive the Z's around, and each clutch was a differing degree of "touchiness" so to speak.. there were some that were smooth as silk while others (like mine) are a PITA.
Going from the Z to another manual though: man, it is like night and day.. driving other cars seem too easy after the Z!!!!!

I also gotta admit it to, my Z was the first time i learned how to drive a manual... still having a hard time trying to drive it smoothly... it took me about 3days to learn how to balance the cutch, then about 3wks to get fully good... but still shake everytime i shift from 1st to 2nd to 3rd... Like what nroman said "Practice Makes Perfect!".

I test drove a Z 2 years ago. I'm now thinking of picking one up for a 3rd car because I really love this car. I've fallen in love w/ its looks.
Anyway, I don't remember it being hard to drive. What is hard? Does it have an assisted clutch or something?
My current car is the most difficult I've ever driven because of a hydrolic assisted clutch, and I hate that! It's my only complaint about the car. Does the Z have the same??

From a dead stop, rev to about 1500rpm and let the clutch out slowly. This seems to be hard in the Z cause the peddle has so much resistance.
Also, try always shifting below 3000rpm into the next higher gear.
I have told this to the very few people that I have allowed to drive my car, and the 3000rpm tip seems to work well.
( I shift at 6000rpm )

Yeah, this car isn't great at starting, once it's in the power band however it's a different story. I have terrible launches but it could be that my clutch isn't rated for my current horse power. Hopefully with a new clutch and a few other goodies it'll start behaving like it should.

Leanrned to change gears in my Dads lap at 8 and really drive on my own at 12 hehehe.
Anywho on the Z getting out of 1st you may be tempted to hold down the clutch for longer period of time, do a quick, steady release and you'll be fine Good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of participation driving
