They said its offered as an add-on...but I swear deals don't know ****. Anyone install the passenger airbag off switch? I don't know why Nissan doesn't just make this a standard.

Mainly because you need NHTSA approval to install it.

Yeah, they should make it standard. You don't need NHTSA approval if it's standard equipment, like it is on a Miata or pickup truck.

I've registered and have the paperwork to get it installed, now I just need a vendor and shop to hook it all up. Anyone have reccomendations on where to go for either (in Northern California)?

apharmdb,
How long did it take for you to get a response from NHTSA?

Thanks

I have the switch from airbagonoff.com. Many of the dealers, while they will order the factory part for you, don't want to install it. It's a liability issue, not for your car, but for the technician. Apparently, people are injured or killed every year trying to install these (or worse, deactivate the bag altogether) and accidentally deploying the bag. When the installer put mine in, about $150 of the $400 went towards insurance for the installer.

The turnaround on the approval from NHTSA didn't take but a week or so, but good luck finding someone to put the stock one in.
