I love forbes now! thanks!

"Objectively, by nearly all measures, the Nissan (nasdaq: NSANY - news - people ) 350Z is a better-handling faster car than the $41,000 Porsche Boxster--and it is even superior in some ways to the yet-faster $51,000 Boxster S. All for about half as much money--$26,069."

not by all the crappy car magazines.

"In sum, no car on earth for that amount of money comes even close to offering the same balance of power, performance, high style and refinement. Not from prestige marques like BMW or Audi, or even from renowned sports car makers like Mazda or Honda (nyse: HMC - news - people )--or even from the latter's upmarket Acura division. And although the Subaru WRX is close on the performance/price mix, the looks just aren't there."

again we are in last place by the magazines?

" Last July, we had a chance to spend a day and a half driving the Nissan 350Z on the road and at the racetrack. By the time we were finished we decided it was the best sports car (for the money) on the planet."

sweet!

Renowned sports car makers honda and mazda?

aside from the s2000 and the NSX ( which by all acounts has been dead for a while with no significant changes), I'd hardly say Mazda and Acura are sports car companies.

Nevertheless, nice to hear some nice words about the Z. Seems since the 2 years I bought it the car has sort of fallen off the charts what with so many new high performance cars come out. And while it may edge out the prestige brands like Audi and BMW in value, it doesnt come close to either in quality. I would go back to my Audi TT in a second if anything to never have gone through so many trips to my dealer to get things fixed on the Z.

That's a great review, they finally got the Z right. The Evo and Sti are faster, but the looks just aren't there. The Z is the best all-rounder.

Exactly. I`m so tired of seeing the Z being bashed in magazine reviews when it`s up against cars like the 911 turbo. For less than half the money of a 911, of course the 350Z isn`t going to look spectacular.
This is one of the first mag reviews i`ve seen that include other cars in the same price range, and it just go`s to show you that the Z is [imho] the best sportscar in the 25-30k price range.

[and even in this review the z matched up well with the boxter ]

that is a 2003 article isn't it? I mean it's reviewing a 2003 model and also mentions the preproduction model that they test drove.

When the Z first came out, it got rave reviews everywhere. Everyone liked it and decided it's the best thing ever.

Now though, other companies like chevy have updated their cars and people don't seem to be so sure the Z is the best thing out there for the money etc anymore

I'll admit I was drawn to the Z by it's looks mainly but also it's pretty decent handling/performance. I figured I can always upgrade the performance, but I'll never be able to upgrade it's looks

Oh yes you can. I've seen some pretty unique sharp looking Z's with body kits.

I know, but I've seen a lot more bad taste in body kits than good taste though

there's a few people on these boards who have really nice looking cars, most everyone else IMO has made the Z look worse

This is the same reason that I appreciate the new C6 'Vette. Impressive specs for not a whole lot of money.

Yes, but the Vette is still in a different class.

RX-7, RX-8, Miata, Integra Type-R, Prelude, NSX, S2000 come to mind...

Why is Nissan so much better sports car maker? They have the Silvia's (240's) and the Fairlady's (Z's) and... thats it.
