Anybody doing the Cannonball Run?
I really wanted to go on the one in Europe this year but I'm still recovering from a surgery I had this past October. But I see they have one in Canada this fall and if I'm feeling better I might try to make this one. I figure since I don't have a wife or kids, what better way to close out my twenties and enter my thirties than with a CannonBall!!! How much $$ did you bring with you and what kind of radar systems does Canada use? What did you pack with you? If anybody's going to the one in Europe, don't forget to take pictures and tell us about it. Thanks.

Well, it's cheaper than the Player's Run and damn cheaper than the Gumball. Hopefully I can get some sponsorship help. If not, I'll be diggin' in the pockets. It's okay. I'll just eat ramen noodles and spam for the next year.
But are you really willing to pay 7K, and still have to worry about tickets, losing your car, getting in jail en such?
If you are willing to, Maybe i should reconsider

I want to go more for the experience. The last time I did something like this was the '98 SuperStreet tour. I was new to the game back then with my '96 Accord slush-o-matic. That's when I got smoked by this girl with a turbo integra. I wish I could run into her today and smoke her azz!! She had her foot hanging out the window when I revved on her. She gave me this lazy look, put her foot back in the car and preceded to smoke me very badly(this was a highway run)
It will depend which province(s) the event is held. Most provinces use the same radar systems as the U.S. (X, K, Ka, Laser) but I see mostly laser now. Also, radar detectors are illegal depending which province you are in.
According to the web page the targetted average speed is 55mph, whats that all about? Is it for legal purposes?

I think it is. I believe you don't find out the course until just right before the event. I guess between getting lost and maybe some traffic you'll be trying to make up the time anyway. All the rallies: Player's Run, Gumball, Cannonball stress that the event isn't a race but come on. You wouldn't drive 3000 miles in an F50 or Gallardo just cuz.
