Angry Can someone tell me whats wrong with my new car?!?

I brought a 05 enthu 6spd last night. I was very happy until i took it for a drive today. I started to notice noises that i didn't noticed when i test drove the car last night. Anyways...this was what happend today. I was in 1st and i was rolling for a little bit. I pushed the clutch down and there was this clunky noise..it was really loud! This noise was even louder when i shift from 1-2. Everytime i press the clutch when the car was in 1st it made that clunking noise. Is there something wrong with my transmission??

Don't think age has anything to do with it?

You do know how to drive manuals, right? If so, take it to the dealer, that sound does not sound right.

The reason I ask is if he's inexperienced, he may be hearing the sound made by the drive train when there's tension released by depressing the clutch.
I find new drivers do it a lot. It's the sound that when you're in first gear and the car is compression braking, then you push the clutch in and 'pop' comes from the drive train.

He's probably not doing that, but it's like checking to make sure something is plugged in before continuing to trouble shoot.

I heard this noise too when I first picked up my car. Now after driving it a few weeks its gone. I dont know if it was breaking it in, or me learning how to drive better, but I was also scared when I first heard it. I'd say get used to the car drive it around a bit more and see if the noise is still there.

heres an update...the noise is still there. But not all the time....just MOST of the time. My car only has 130miles on it. When did the noise start to go away for those who also experienced this "clunk" noise?

any noises you hear with your tranny wont go away. I noticed them all right after i got my car. I had a second transmission put in not too long ago, after 5 minutes of driving it i still heard the same noises.

Go see the dealership... it doesn't cost anything and'll give you some peace of mind.

I know I get that noise if I push in the clutch fast rolling on first and about to shift to 2nd. It goes clack clack clak (it's pretty much what Jason said about the stock flywheel clattering). To avoid the excessive noise, you can try not pushing in the clutch in very fast going from 1st to 2nd.

Don't take it to the dealer and embarass yourself when they tell you it is normal. It is drivetrain chatter. Your driving a RWD sports car now. Get used to it.

It's not a full proof method, I still get it sometimes.

Welcome to the "thud" club. I think many or most of us get this. It's most noticeable in a parking structure.
