Hardcore 350Z by 2007
Man, my day just got a whole lot brighter. I finally got my hands on the April 2005 issue of Automobile, and in their Ignition (news) section I found this little tidbit of info: (copied verbatim from mag)
Nissan is working on a hard-core 350Z. "It'll be a kind of Porsche 911 GT3", says a source. Likely to be done with help from NISMO, Nissan's competition arm, the hot-rod Z is slated for the 2007 model year.
Is everyone as excited as I am ??

2007 is the year a lot of the nice cars are coming out (GTR, Saleen, RX-7[maybe], Supra[maybe]) so I doubt Nissan would miss out on the action. I'll have my Z paid off and have a hefty down payment saved for another car by then

Did they happen to give an approximate, what you would expect to pay ... price? I'm sure it will come premiumly priced = especially if Nismo is concerned ... but what the h*** you only live once, and I have to admit = I love the quality I have seen in my 05 Z (they may have repeat business soon!)

Yes, one of the nissan dealer also told me to wait for a while after I told him the 2003 track model has more power than 35th edition 2005 (I am speaking of torque). He mentioned that Nissan is still working on 350z model that brings a lot more power than 35th annivesary edition.

Doubt it, we'll see though...
Probably just a model with all of Nismo's parts.
I'd hate to see what going to a V8 or twin turbo does to the Z... let's just say there won't be a 26k base model or 28k enthusiast model anymore...

AutoWeek says the Skyline GTR will likely be badged as a Nissan.
I suspect that's the car we're talking about.
I can't imagine Nissan overpowering and overpricing the 350z beyond where it stands now.
If the price shoots past $35K, this whole thing reeks of the 300z - and look what happened to that fine automobile.

The GTR is going to be Infiniti, that's already been confirmed. Plus, would YOU want Nissan customer service with a $60k+ car?
I couldn't agree more about your second comment. That is NOT what Nissan made this car for.
