Happens to me EVERY single time I get out of my car. I have to use my sleeve to close the door otherwise I get zapped. Ridiculous. I will try the door handle thing.

Hmm, yeah, I get shocked on the outside handle. And I do at work too.
So I just touch the back of my wrist to the ****/handle first where there aren't many nerves.

I think it has to do with static build up from the rubber tires. Try holding on to the door(metal part) and step on the ground when you get out. If you get out and are not touching the car then re-touch you will get shocked.
This happens all the time in my SUV. Even happen once when I was pumping gas and touched the car. I started to fill up and went back into my car without closing the door. As soon as I got out and touched the car I got shocked again. I believe Myth-Busters even looked into if it was possible to blow up your car with this static discharge. They said no but I have seen it where the shock does product a little arc.

1. Get out of the car and make sure you aren't touching anything connected to the car.
2. Leave the door open.
3. Use a metal key (not the sharp end, unless you heart scratching your door) to touch the door.
4. Listen to the zapping sound.
5. Close the door.
6. ???
7. Profit!
I have a Civic and I've tried the door-holding trick and the key trick. I still get shocked when doing the door-holding thing. If it's not the car shocking me even when I hold the handle, it's some other metal object like a railing. The key trick is the best way I know of to prevent static shock.
