Default Does your Z shock you?

Does anyone her notice that when they leave their Z they get shocked while going to close the door. It happens to me 90% of the time. Everytime I close my door now I have to brace for the shock, lol.

Hold the door handle on the way out, it will aid in reducing the chance of receiving a shock

Yes, I'm shocked that I have to leave my Z when I want to drive it some more.

When my Z was new, it shocked me all the time. My wife sprayed some anti-static laundry stuff on the carpets; the shocking incidents went down and eventually stopped, but I don't know whether it was from the anti-static treatment or from some other reason (carpet wearing down, perhaps?).

Yes, I'm shocked all the time. Like yesterday, I was making a turn & added too much gas, I was shocked that the car fishtailed so easily. I said "Damn! This car is fun!"

On a serious note, haha, try tapping the key on the door/door handle on your way out of the car to release the charge. You should see a spark, hehehe.

Same here! And it's a pretty intense little shock too.

It happens to me after I vacuum the carpet. After the pile gets flattened it doesn't.

Static from clean carpet + the fact that I always keep my car clean = static shock all the time! Oh well, the price you pay.

try touching your key to something metal on the door before you touch the door with your hand...should minimize the shock, if not kill it completely

Try static guard on the floor carpets and the seats....You can get it from Wallmart for about $1.50 for a small size can.

Default me to

count me in for the shocking effect. This car has more static electricity then any car ive ever driven. Shocked everytime I get out. After I wash my car and buff it with a gloss enhancer spray product, you can actualy hear the static building up. As soon as I start my car, all dust that is on the ground gets imediately sucked up to the bottom half of my car. Really sucks. One product that i usualy use (im out at the moment) does seem to work though. Zainos spray gloss ****, keeps the static away when buffing it. BEN

Default funny

dry air in Dallas? I must be accustomed to a dry climate, because I believe it is really dry in new mexico. When I go to Dallas it feels so humid, now Houston, thats got some real humidity. Still not as bad as Louisiana though. Grandma lives there and whe I go visit, she likes for me to go out and get her newspaper, got to take a shower after Iwalk to the street and back inside. hahah

Haha, I just noticed this yesterday. It's definitely weird, I get shocked whenever I get out of my car. I guess it's just my Z lashing out cause it wants to be driven, not parked .
