Buddy, as a wise man once said, "a good deal is in your head."

That being said, it sounds high to me by a few G's. If you like the car, get it, but there are better deals to be found. Don't rush it....the right car is out there for you.

As an aside.....I bought my 2003 Track model with 15,000 miles on it for $24,000. Shop, shop, shop.

I just did a check on kbb.com and its private party value is around $24000 depending on location, 6spd vs. auto, leather, etc..

If this is at a dealership, I'd take a bank check in for $22,000 and see what happens. Also take $2,000 in cash with you and pull it out a little at a time (verbally) until you reach your highest offer which, if it were me, would be around $23,000. At that price it becomes much more of a deal. Good luck...the Z is a super fun car!!!

thanks for the input.

what about tire feathering...do you think it would be an issue since it has about 24000 miles?

also, if it does start, am i SOL since i bought the car used?

This isn't too good of a deal. I bought my '03 touring with only 6500 miles on it for like $26,000, and that was back in the summer when I think Z's were selling better. I'm pretty sure I would've been able to get a better deal if I were buying it now. And as for your feathering question, it doesn't matter if you bought the car used or not, only if it's still under warranty (which you are with only 24,000 miles).

fatindiandude:

This is a raw deal as raw can get. Might have to quote Arnold on that one.

You have two options:

1) buy a new enthusiast ~27k, 2005 fresh as a daisy
2) find a used Z on www.autotrader.com and sniff every crevice for bad seeds. At most you should pay about 21k for 03' Enthusiast. Honestly, the best deal for the money.

If you desperately need a DVD, get it aftermarket and 2 years fresher electronics.

3) Huh? Option three?
Wait 1-2 more years, then price difference for used Enthusiasts, Tourings, Performance will reach parity (since accessories for the SAME car devalue very quickly).

I had saw a 03 touring with the total package including nav. that had 15kmiles and was asking for $20,000. I nearly had a hard attack when i saw the price, i quickly rush to call the owner just to find out it's been sold....what a bummer

If (you're male and) a nice Z doesn't make you hard, you need to leave this site now!

at the price I am guessing its an auto... no way a dealer would let it go for $22k... $24k might be able to get it thought

most I would pay for a used car from a dealership is kbb private party in excelent shape... I would fight for the kbb value in good condition price though. KBB dealer retail is a joke, its bascily an average of what dealers would like to get for the car... if dealers really got kbb dealer retail for all their used cars they would make $6k+ on every used car they sold which is alot more than they make on new cars.

27750 is too much. You're better off getting a new 2005 Enthusiast model for the same price (before taxes) IMO.

hypiv: It depends on how long it has sat on a dealer's lot - they will sometimes let cars go for low amounts, even if it means they only make a couple hundred dollars on them. Never hurts to try, especially with a bank check....makes it tempting for them if they really want to move the car out.

Also, the kbb dealer's price is (as it says on kbb) what a dealer in your area may ask for the car BEFORE negotiations begin. I agree it's always high, but it's up to the consumer to work them down to reasonable levels.

The price is way too high! IMHO I would never buy a car in a couple of days! Also...I would stay away from '03's and save up for an '04 with a built date of 12/03 or better. lol
