Damn. I tried my best. I did the 5-minute langka method. I topped it off with clearcoat. It's not totally invisible (because the stupid touch-up paint doesn't match the actual DB), but it looks a helluva lot better. I had a superfine artist's brush wheN I applied the clearcoat. You can't really tell when in direct sunlight. I guess the clearcoat's shinyness covers it. But when there's a shadow over it, you can really tell.

The problem is the clearcoat in the Nissan touch-up pen is *real* clearcoat. I tried going back and using langka on an old spot that I covered with clearcoat. It didn't remove it.

I still think there needs to be bulletproof paint...

Edit: Here are the pictures. The original picture was double the size, but space limitations prohibited me from using the original image. The images themselves are not enhanced, only resized to 50% of the original. As said before, the chips are nearly unnoticeable in direct sunlight (closeup & far). But once a shadow comes over them, you can see 'em pretty good.

I actually have my entire hood clear bra'd. But I'm thinking of removing it. I'm too **** about detailing my car, so its always bothered me it was never as shiny as the rest of the car. Stuck between a rock chip and a hard place.

Saturn, they have the commercial with the car backing into a pole, shopping carts hitting it, baseballs, basketballs, opening doors into walls, the guy banging his head on the door. Their cars are indestructible. If they get a dent they just have to wait a few minuted for the plastic to warm up and pop back out. LOL

It was my first $ mod. I plan to enjoy my Z for many years. Make sure you go for the Lumina version instead of the 3M version. I was advised on how the 3M one will turn a light shade yellow after a few years. The installer came to my office and showed me both samples on his van. And coincidentally, there was a Maxima with a clear bra (discolored) on it in my building's parking lot. When the owner came out we asked: if that was 3M? It was.

It was a bad install too. So, if you do go for it make sure you chack around the regional forums to find a good installer.

Yah, get the touch up paint cause your going to get chips on the side of your car too. May also want to get some fine tip paint brushes and paint remover for the brushes. The touch up paint pen is not useful for those odd shaped or small chips.

Good luck!

I hear the unpainted parts are black.

I've only seen an unpainted 350Z hatch and it was in fact black...

So if it chips all the way down on a black car you may have some + side...
