I would fight that ticket if I were you, that's total bull. If you didn't squeal your tires, do a burnout, or go over the speed limit, I don't see what the problem is.
Glad to see you're not too pissed off about it though, don't let it ruin your Z experience!

Sounds like total BS to me. You accelerated too fast? That is rediculous. Sounds like the cop was making up laws. Like when you were a kid and started losing at a game you would make up a new rule so you win! LOL

LOL yah guys... I mean I'm not that upset because I should have know to be EXTREMELY careful in the area I was in... Troy Michigan cops are the worst basterds on the planet... I feel like they are SS **** troops everytime I talk to them...

its not even a state law or anything like that... Troy Michigan has a LOCAL ORDINANCE against rapid acceleration... yes I looked the law up... they dont retort with WHAT rapid or excessive is...

I just thought it was total BS and i wanted to post it to let people know there are stupid laws out there like this in some stuck up cities...

but it doesnt turn me off of taking off fast with my new Z everytime im in there just makes me wanta pick up a radar detector LOL... too bad all my cash is gone on parts... anyone know of a cheap but solid radar detector?

LMAO "Sudden Acceleration". Thats one of the most BS ticket I've ever heard. You should've asked him how fast you accelerated, and what the acceleration limit was. Definately fight it.

Yeah, where I live here in Virginia they've got laws against "exhibition of speed". Basically, if you take off too fast from a light by yourself, they give you that.. if theres another car with you, then its racing.

I dont know anyone personally who got it, but I bumped into a few people in traffic school who had gotten it (amongst other things).

Yep, it's called "excessive show of speed" or something like that here in California as well.

A radar detector is not going to help you in situations like this though.
If a cop thinks that you accelerated too fast than its a judgement call. Not a speed trap.

You can take a look at my site and choose one of these... the prices vary. Since you're a fellow Z driver let me know which one you want I'll do my best to cut you a better deal.

Completely stay away from cheap detectors, just gonna get you more tickets. Get a valentine 1 or bel's 8500 x65 i believe Check on that though. Picks up new Pop lll to. That will bust you in a hurry most likely anyways. Just run a normal cruiser wont catch you. But your gonna have to get out , run through the woods, then report it stolen LMAO. I hate cops may you all rot in hell you power tripping homos. Please excuse my language!!

In California, Exhibition of Speed is a pretty big ticket. A friend got one for being an idiot and smoking his tires on a green light in front of a cop. I think in the end it ended up costing him close to a grand to pay off and a couple points on his record.

In summary, its basically a "dont be a dumbass" ticket.. so cops can give people tickets who are driving like a dumbass, but arent breaking any official rules.

As for you though, it sounds like the cop just needed to fill his quota, so he picked you. Tough luck . It always pisses me off how cops have become revenue generators, and not protectors of the peace or whatever.
