Need to fill out SR1 DMV form if Z got keyed?
Yeah , my '05 DB Z got keyed a few weeks ago.. finally ready to get it out of the shop very soon. I vented on another thread; thanks to everyone for their show of support. But now I have a new question... My insurance company, Safeco, sent me a SR1 DMV form to fill out because my loss exceeded a certain dollar amount (500 or 750?) I really don't want to submit anything to the DMV if I don't have to... can anyone give me some advice on this? I was just thinking about throwing it away, but hopefully I can get some clarification from you guys. Thanks!

I just got into a freak accident last week and got the sr-1 form from my insurance. I believe on the back it said by California law (i'm in santa clara) you're suppose to mail that into the DMV within 10 days of the accident and when the accident exceeds $750 in damage (starting in 2005, it was $500 before).

Does anyone know what happens if you do NOT fill out this form? I think I read that "it's illegal blah blah blah to not submit this form etc" on the back of the SR1 form, but I really don't want to submit stuff to the DMV and have it go on my record if I don't have to. On a somewhat similar note, I have a good friend whose dad is a lawyer in Southern Cali. Every time he gets jury duty notice in the mail, he rips it up and tosses it in the trash. He says if you don't respond, they'll assume you never got in the mail and you won't get in trouble. It's been working for me. I'm wondering if I could do something similar here....

Two things 1st even if he did go in he would never make it to a jurt since he is a lawyer.
2nd a judge could potentially put an arrent warrent out.
