Default rolling start on 3rd gear?

Anyone tried a rolling start on 3rd gear around 1000 rpm? Very interesting effect.... the exhaust note becomes very bassy and loud

why I did it is beyond me... but just an interesting find... wonder if that's bad for the car?

Probably depends on how much you are slipping the clutch. Anytime you slip the clutch a little longer than is required under normal circumstances you are causing additional wear. Easy on the clutch and it will last a long time.

even if the clutch is locked, I heard it was bad to have the revs down that low. bad for the clutch I mean. I have no clue why.

but yeah Ive done it, it is very bassy, but I didnt notice it to be very loud. and you have very little power.

Sliping the clutch is when the flywheel is moving faster than the clutch when they meet right?

When I start from 1st, I usually bring the revs up to about 1600RPMS, and leave em there until its fully engaged. Is this bad?

I vary between 1000 and 2500 depending how fast I want to go and if im on an incline. I think the key is how long it takes for the revs to match. you could sit it at 1000, and let the car speed up VERY slowly, and that would be worse. just slip it as much as you need to not to stall or be jerky, and move on.

Just basicaly, the more gas you give, the less clutch you want.

Anyone have some tips for a great launch. When I bring the revs up to say, 2500-3000 for some fun , the interior and the stick shift shake like crazy. Is this just lots of wheel hop? It sounds terrible, thats why I rarely do it (even when I have the opertunity...long epmty road) Its fine when I just launch normaly of course, just wondering if what i am exereincing is bad for the car, beond simple clutch wear.

I would guess you should let the clutch out a tad slower to let it hook up. and most importantly do it smoother. this is the least stressful on the clutch, but of course, its more than average. but the clutch can handle a good lauch a few times. its the bad lauches that cause big problem prematurely.
