Default Dealer screwed me $$$ help...

How much time do we have to stop a credit card payment towards a purchase of a 350Z? The dealer I bought the car agrees with me to a $500 debit to my bank account on the 31st of march to complete the downpayment of $2500 I put down. The other $2000, I paid them with a credit card. I was looking at my bank account and the dealer debit $900 instead of $500, violating the aggrement that we have for the sale. Can I still stop the credit card payment until this is resolve.

Do you have this in paper? Maybe it was a mistake.

I would contact the dealer tomorrow. Maybe it was a honest mistake. If they hmmm and hhaawww then just say. "Nevermind I'll call my bank and deny the charges." If you never signed anything which I am sure you didn't seeing as you were not aware of the extra 400. Then they cannot demand payment. Your bank is on your side all the way.
But like I said check withthe dealer first. Maybe they made a mistake.

I just don't trust some of this sale guys. The final deal was $32.5K on the purchase of the car. I told them I didn't have the other $500 because all I brought with me was $32k. Then they told me, how about if you authorize us to debit the extra $500 on the 31st and I said okay and I sign a paper for that. But it was suppose to be $500 not $900. Now I just don't remember if in the confusion and the excitment of the moment I didn't saw if it was $500 for sure or not. I'm going to call the sales guy tomorrow and demand an explanation.

PS.
I forgot to say that they debit this amount of $900 in two different transactions, which may me a little concern.

You might start by asking for an explaination. I doubt a car dealer, as low as most are, would stoop low enough to take extra dollars. Plus that would be a criminal offense.

Take it up with the dealer first. Then if that doesn't work go to the bank. If either one of them wants to keep you as a customer, they will do you right.

Thank you guys for all your comments. I did call the salesman at the dealer I bought the Z. Let me explain something about my deal with this dealer,

The cost of the car was $32.5K when we finish the negotiations. The agreement estipulated that I was suppose to put $2500 down and finance $30K. This is how the $2500 was divided,( $1600 from credit card + $400 cash + $500 debit on March 31st ). They told me that what happen was that the $400 cash I paid on the day I brought the car home the finance department loss track of it and that's why they charge me the extra $400.

They told me that the money is going to be credit back into my account on a day or two. So everything should be back in order. Thank's again guys.

So they lost your $400 payment and didn't work it out with you first? Instead they just convienently charged you an extra $400? Thats a load of crap.

Should've asked for a free hat.
