If waht lethal says is true, why didn't you wait to break in your car properly?

I do think it sucks that they didn’t fix it properly. I would be happy that they are fixing it at all. Cause basically you beat the crap out of your car, broke it, and now Nissan has to pay for your errors.
From what everyone told me 1500-2000 miles was a proper breakin for the Z.. was I misinformed..??? BTW- they said my engine blew due to a factory defect the crank pulley key was oblonge instead of perfectly round.. this caused the pulled to break inhal, and the crankshaft busted the main seal....would you like to change ur opinion

I just got my 05 and the dealer and service guy told me not to take it over 4200 rpm for at least the first 3000 miles I had it.

1500-2000 is more than enough for the break in period. Sucks to hear that you have to go through that. If it makes you feel better, my girlfriend just found out today she is going to get a brand new engine for her 2002 Altima because of the Cat/oil consumption issue. Good luck

I'd kill someone if I had to wait that long to break it in. Read the owners manual. It says don't go over 4000 RPM's for the first 1200 miles, varying the RPMS, not staying constant.

thanks dude, but that makes me even more anti-nissan LOL I've heard of too many "new" nissans needing "new" motors...

Yes So you did break it in to 2000 miles. It just seemed from what I read you were very hard on your car. But since it was a factory defect it wasnt your fault. Well on the bright side you will end up with a new motor and transmission in the end

Hope it all works out!
