Default Rock Chip Problem

hey guys
do you think putting a clear bra really worth it ? i already got a few rock chips in my front bumper and few on the windshield . they're very hard to be seen unless ur looking at it really close. neway , do you guys repair them first before installing the clear bra ? also , if we repaint them , it won't be the same quality color as the factory one . right ? is it worth it ?
any comments will be greatly appreciated .

Peace .

I'd put one on asap. Repairing the current chips is up to you. If theres only a few small ones, you could probly just touch them up without actually respraying. I know you dont think its too bad now, but picture it after say... 4 or 5 years. Its going to be trash.

At least, thats what I'm gonna do as soon as I get my Z

a clear bra installer near you is hoping to get your $1200 though...

What?

You can't see a clearbra (thats the whole point), rock chips are easier to see the bigger they are, and a clearbra from a GOOD isntaller by me is $550.

For the record I've had a few clearbras and the most I've paid for one was ~$600 installed and out the door. I don't want this misinformation about $1200 deterring would-be buyers. The clearbra is a worthwhile investment if you want to protect the paint and the lights from damage. I guess I am not fond of the thought of letting the car get chipped and the hood dinged and possibly a headlight housing broken when I can invest $600 to prevent that from happening. The car was over $35,000, $600 is chump change in comparision and your resale is going to be that much better given good condition as opposed to destroyed paint. Just my $.02. I paid ~$750 out the door for the clearbra AND a full tint job using all 3M materials on the Z.

How much to paint the bumper before you sell the car? >600 I would think. A broken headlight will break I would think with a piece of plastic over it or not. Is that clearbra made of kevlar or something? Why not just bubblewrap at the UPS store for $11.95? Prob. would protect it more.

i just paid $550 for the 3M clear bra installed on my front bumper , front low grill , hood , and headlights .
they said it'll cost $700-$750 for the whole kit but i don't think i need those.
front is the most vulnerable part of the Z .

Here you go, ebay strikes again!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=50457

What really makes me want to get it is that, quote,
This is the same material used by professoinals and is the ONLY paint protection film officially licensed by NASCAR.

As soon as I find out wtf a professoinals is, I will purchase this film. Otherwise, I will just have my bumper resprayed every 4 years or so. An official license from NASCAR? So are baseball caps.

Ebay again, this one does not seem to be NASCAR licensed, however, this one is only $190 plus $8 shipping - looking good!

Bubble wrap uses the hitech "UPS approved" pressure and heat sealed air bubbles to protect bumper and headlights. Used by the US military in combat to protect delicate parts in shipment, all the major airlines use it daily! Can be applied by anyone using superglue and a roller. Even "professoinals" can apply it! I promise it will protect your bumper more than 3M will if a rock hits it as the bubbles will asorb the shock!

Has anyone tried to use that motorcycle paint that stops chipping? Emron or something?

Actually the material that goes on the headlights is very thick. I saw a test somewhere awhile back when they determined the velocity it would take an average rock to actually crack the housing thru the material and it was much faster than you'd normally encounter. Heres a quote from the Xpel site, I couldn't find that test:

"Both in the real world and in the lab, our covers have proven that they will withstand a barrage of 1" diameter stones (about 1oz.) at speeds up to 120 m.p.h. with no damage to the lens they protect. Though the likelihood of this ever happening to your car in the real world is slim, it is nice to know that your expensive lenses are protected in any scenario. We are so confident in our product that we offer a $1,000 Warranty to leave you with complete peace of mind."

I don't know how much it would cost to repaint before you sold... my main issue is I don't want the car looking like hell BEFORE I decide to sell.
