Default 2006 Z

I don't know if this is true or not or just an old rumor. The new 2006 Z will have a major interior revision (I think Car & Driver has reported this already and the Z interior really needs an update badly) but the big change will come with a new 4.0 V6 engine already in use in the pathfinder. So forget about the 350 name, if you go to the Nissan website they already dropped the 350z name. They call it Z coupe or Z roaster.

I just hope the tire feathering is fixed for 2006. I can't believe it's that hard to fix, the engineers should just look at a BMW and copy what they've done.

This has been discussed multiple times on these forums. I don't think they will release a v8 Z.

one more thing,

i'd love to see Nissan up the power with an N/A engine (4.0 v6 sounds good to me), but you have to think, would Nissan really release a better, faster, more powerful Z right after it had it's hype for a 35th Anniv. 300hp edition? I think i heard somewhere Nissan might switch to the new engine for all models in 06. You can get yourself a new 300hp engine for a CAI, Reflash, and plenum spacer lol. (i know you dont get that VVT stuff and different runners)

Oops, I just skimmed over the post, guess I didn't read it well enough.

I hope they don't decide to release a 4.0l v6 Z, anyway. If they do, kiss your resale value goodbye.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did up it to 4.0 liters cuz it's not that major of a change. I do wonder how that would change the hp and torque curve though. Maybe more torque w/ the same hp if i had to guess. But I would be most grateful if they did up the interior, which was my biggest gripe since the ride came out. What month is the the '06 Z expected to come out? Thanks

I don't think there will be a major change. Minor changes, most likely. Not a major one though. This will only be the 4th model year. (2003, 2004, 2005)

Is Jan of '03 the time the 350z arrived? Because since my situation won't allow me to get it till then, Jan would be a good time.

Ahsmo, how long have you been in Palestine? I have never noticed that under your avatar before. I haved lived in Athens for the past 7 years or so (I am currently in San Antonio for school, but will be moving back after I finish) Anyway, just thought I would ask, didn't know anyone knew where that was, much less lived there

As for the Z, I would love to see a 400 Z and maybe ZX The only problem is that I am supposed to be getting a 2005 right when the 06's come out. Well, if the 4.0L does come out and resale on all other years goes to Hades, then maybe I can get a good deal on a new 05 in December. Of course, I would get smoked by all the new Z's, oh well.

A 4.0 liter Z isn't too hard to imagine. In Automobile there was a small news thing about how Nissan was going to release a more "hardcore" Z in 2007, GT3 style. So they could put in the 4.0 liter a year before, then drop loads of weight in 07 for the hardcore Z. Who knows, I guess all we can do is wait and see.

i remember seeing a thread awhile back where someone asked a credible nissan rep about the 4.0 v6 and they said its not gonna happen. They said the motor was for trucks/suv's only and would not produce the same hp #'s n/a as the 3.5 can.

I lived in Palestine for 19 years. I moved out this year but my offical residence will still be palestine.(joining the military/going to a service academy)

Athens sure beats the hell out of Palestine. I have known a few people from there. When do you come back?

I am there from time to time now. I was there this past weekend for my sister-in-law's wedding shower, and I will be down again in a few weeks. I will be back in east texas for good in about 2 years. Just have to finish up with the schooling down here in central texas, and then move back to east texas where the health care industry is doing so good so I can have a great job. Thats cool that you have lived there for so long, you may know some relatives of mine. Congrats on going to the military, a few friends of mine have gone do the various military academies, and they all loved it.

Guys...Be real. Remember Import vs. Domestic game. I doubt we'll jump on the large displacement bandwagon after ford and american sports cars. It's kind of obvious? For years we have not done it and all of the sudden it happens? ********.

I find it hard to see that they would be making a major change right after trying to hype up the 35th aswell, that just wouldnt make sence

but an interior revision would not be too hard to believe, of course I'm only trying to use logic to see this through

I don't think the 06 will do anything dramatically different than the 03-05. It's too soon.

Plus, isn't the GT-R coming out here in 07? Nissan wouldn't want to compete with itself too much.
