daily drive mine in CT/NY/NJ but I garage it in the winter.

coupla things:
1. summer tires don't have any traction when it's cold - like 25 degrees. get some winter tires on take-off wheels if you live in a snow/winter area - prob pick up some 17" wheels cheap.

2. reliable as heck mechanically.

3. transmission hump gets warm. when it's cooler it's nice. in summer you need a/c at your feet.

4. if you drive manual and don't mind it, it's prob easier to drive that in snow - higher gears at lower speeds = less torque = more traction.

5. mostly highway, drive it moderately aggresively (tires chirp a few times on the way to and from work daily, runs into triple digits daily, heel/toe, a couple tire screeching exits/entrances), and get 27-28 mpg on almost every tank.

Mine didn't start out as the DD but it turned into the DD. It's been very reliable and I've had no problems. Haven't driven in the snow so I can't comment about that.

Again thanks for all your comments guys ..... another thing. If i got a Twin Turbo Setup do u think it will be reliable as well. (i know what you guys are thinking ,if i turn the boost all the way up and beat the hell out of it then no) , but if i drive it like norm but sometimes play around what do u think.

^Nothing is 100% reliable. However, if you truly want a reliable engine, you should rebuild it with strong internal components which will cost nearly as much as the TT Kit.

i was trying to decide this too. after a lot of research i decided on an auto. i drive an auto civic right now and i like not having to shift and all that. auto is just as fast as the manual too. u have to be a damn good driver to shift faster than the tiptronic shifts. it basically gets down to HOW u wanna drive it. i like cruising. im not a racer, so im going auto.

A number of mechanics I know use a rule of thumb, they just double the mileage on FI cars. So I thing what they are saying is 50,000 miles on a FI is equivalent to 100,000 miles on NA. Now before anyone jumps on this, they say it is just a rule of thumb..... or a thumb rule?

Snow actually sounds kinda fun. But the Z is an awesome daily car. My day wouldn't be complete if I didn't. Torquee in the city and smooth on the freeway. What else can you ask for...besides a better sound systesm =(.

I drive mine 70 miles each way, each day of the week. Thats about 3.25hrs per day. I bought the Z because I drive so much. I have to be happy when commuting from south jersey all the way to west new york EVERYDAY!

Sucks in the 6MT in bad daily traffic though ! Shifting all the time and the clutch get aggravating.

Auto is .1-.2 seconds slower than the manual. It has more to do with the launch than the shifting. With that said, auto is just as good a choice, especially if its what you prefer or in some cases need because of day-to-day traffic.

I drive mine daily, I love the 6sp, love the torque. have'nt seen snow but it gets loose in the rain (can be fun if you adjust for it.). Stock tire do not grip very well in other than dry conditions. I do not has VDC or trac cont. I have had and enjoyed many rear wheel drive vehicles and learned long ago how to correct for road conditions. This car is a great daily driver. I don't know about snow just cause of the salt and potential for damage. I used to live in Michigan and the roads there turn cars to crap if you don't take excellent care of it.

With the potenzas, the car is a nightmare in the snow. I got stuck in 2 inches of snow this winter. Good thing I have my POS 95 corolla for those snowy days. The potenzas suck in cold dry weather as well. No traction. Good to have VDC. Weather permitting, the Z is a great daily driver. Smooth power curve.

It's been so long, I've forgotten how to drive AUTO. I've only had one car in my life that was an auto and i didn't have it too long. I hate coming to stops in an auto car cause my left foot goes down to press the missing clutch pedal and I think I'm gonna stall. heavy traffic in a manual is not annoying once you're used to it, and living in Long Island and traveling through NYC is ALL about traffic. My opinion...you have to have this car in a 6MT to reallly appreciate it.

The Touring with auto tranny does NOT come with VDC but does have TCS; only the MTs have VDC

^I think I've read how the early Bose systems were dissapointing... earning the nickname "Blows". But I think they made some changes and the newer systems are much better.
