Review of 350Z after driving for 1 year
For anyone considering a 350Z, hopefully this will be helpful. I have a 2004 Base model with a few mods. Just turned 12,500 miles. This is my daily commuter car, which logs about 75 miles/day round-trip during the week.
Problems within 12 months:
5000 miles - Clutch has popping noise when cold. Nissan adjusted clutch and is working great.
7500 miles - Tire feathering on front tires. Nissan replaced with new tires very quickly and everything is fine.
I really like this car a lot and plan on keeping it for a few more years. It drives like new. No rattles or creaks. Clutch and powertrain is great. The car is comfortable as a commuter car, as far as sports cars are concerned. Even though I have had problems, as noted above, Nissan has been quick to address them. I would purchase another one. There is no other car offered in this price range like the 350Z. I paid $26.5 + ttl, and it came with a lot of options.
I know that it is irritating to have problems on any new car. I am not justifying any manufacturer having problems with their cars, but this is a performance sport car. My previous car was a S2000 and I can say it had more problems than my Z.
Bottom line - It is a great car for the money and I have enjoyed it during my 1st year of ownership. I still look forward to driving it every day.

i got mine in sep 04 and i an now at 14,000 miles.. noo problems at all except that i might have a feathering issue.. i looked at the front tires but they look normal.. i hear a howling noise when slowing down and ive noticed that it is getting louder and louder by the week... other than that i have no problems
haha damn i can't wait to get my TT kit. Have to build up the rest of the car first though............BTW i love my z. Gets so much attention, especially after putting wheels on it, the z needs aftermarket wheels, it just makes it look sick!

good to hear.....after 6 months I still love my Z......even though I have to scrunch to fit in it I still get wood every time I get in and hear that baby start up. I still feel every day like I was finally able to get one of my dream cars.
I've gotten mine since Sept. '04, and after almost 11k miles, I still love every minute of driving it. It's funny but the Tranny has gotten a lot smoother now, compared to when it was new -- although it's touchy when cold. I find that driving the car slowly in 1st and 2nd gear for about 10 seconds each really helps to warm and smooth things out, getting the tranny oil flowing and stuff.
My tires made roaring sound after about 9k miles, but it was completely gone when I rotated the fronts (although I'm not supposed to rotate them because of the tread pattern, I did it anyway, and I like the result).

It's not my daily driver. But I love the Z. Bought it in Sept 04. I put a few mods on it. Borla headers, Injen exhaust, B and M short shifter, Vortec SC. Damn, it's fast! I get the thumbs up all the time. It even handles well in the rain. I love the looks, simple and clean, a throw back to the Bristol AC coupe (the real Shelby) Simple and elegant, fast and stable. It's my baby! You can keep the damn wings and spoilers for the riced out Hondas

When you say clutch popping do you mean the actual pedal? My clutch pedal does this randomly for the first few miles every once in a while.
12k miles on mine in 6 months. I drive it a lot, and fairly hard, I dont baby the motor, but I take good care of it. Mobil 1 every 3k miles on the dot, premium fuel, etc. I have had a few issues in the 6 months, but still LOVE the car.
-fuel tank cut off for the first 3 months, eventually problem went away
-drivers seat shifted badly, Nissan couldnt fix it, but the fix online did great!
-Tranny got replaced at 10k miles for grinding into 6th.
The car is so fun to drive, and makes my commute 100 times more enjoyable than my old Accord.

I got my z 3-4 wks ago used and loving it. Its a 03 track ed with only 13k miles on it. Only problems I had were:
- Tranny would grind from 2nd to 3rd gear > Nissan replaced the tranny for free. was a regular problem for preordered 03s
- Passanger window would automatically roll down half way when I roll it up > Nissan also fixed free of charge
- FRAGILE A$$ Paint!!
Regardless I am really happy with the car with no buyer's regret!
