Shipping car back to Asia
How many of you have ship your car from U.S back to Asia? I am about to do so and I have no idea where to start. Please if some one out there knows please let me know the steps of shipping my car back to Taiwan. Thank you,
Antonio

Actually regarding taxes, I believe that there is a one-time exemption is you are a citizen of Taiwan. I have heard from friends that taxes could be >150% of the base cost of the car (but I have no proof otherwise). It's actually a pretty smart move on Antonio's part.

I also read of an interesting way to bring in bad azz cars to the US and not have to pay dutys and pass safety regs. Bring say a TVR, Skyline, Noble, Vauxell, etc in pieces. Assymble in the US and can legally register it in any state as a Kit car. Any one hear of this before. I read it motor trend or road track or one of them. BEN

i knew few friends did that ; just only one advice i can give u is to ship it in a container
to avoid any scratches or even (mainly) stealing your rims.....etc "yeah it's true" believe me the people out there are f@@@kers but when u ship it in a container you are they only person who can open it other wise nobody has the right to open it
to make it that way is gonna cost you around $1500-$2000 i'm not sure about that.
this is of course with out customs
in saudi arabia we are paying nothing may be only 5% or less

Contact the Embassy or other goverment representative and ask them about the paper work and taxes. Also when you are talking with them ask if they have any recomendations on shipping your car home. They have probably been through this before.

sorry...my parents have shipped 2 cars back to taiwan before, but I had no idea how. But yea you would still have to pay for the taxes, but it would turn out to be "slightly" cheaper than if you buy one brand new in Taiwan. But what's weird is that I was in Taiwan in January, and I read in a magazine that the 350Z's go for NT$140,000, which is around USD$50,000 I think with the current exchange rate...but I thought it would have been higher.
good luck to you. And drive safe in taiwan!! You know how the traffic is...and hopefully you won't get your Z keyed too many times *knock on wood*.

guys ,...in my country (indonesia ) they sell Fairlady Z for Rp.855,000,000.
( 855 million Rupiah ) , its the same as US$ 90,000.
pretty shitty price eh ,...compared to u guys in states which bought Z for no more than the half of its price .
