Default Nissan Security + Plus

I'll be picking up my 35th Ann. car this friday and the dealer wants to sell me this plan. Nissan Security + Plus Gold. The price is right $1914 for the 7 year plan, which I was told is cost, for the gold plan. Anybody have this or have any thoughts on getting it? Pros and cons welcome.

Thanks

wtf is Nissan security? Is it like the warranty? or do they hire a huge guy to ride in your Z with you for 7 years and act as your body guard?

I think the securty plan gives you Lo-Jack & insurance that they will replace your vehicle if stolen and not recovered (with strings attached on value etc etc) with the same payment plan.

I took it.

Two things to consider:

1. How long are you going to own the car? The car comes with a major powertrain warranty of 5yr/60k mile. So unless you don't plan on having the car that long, you might want to skip it.

2. You can always purchase the Security+Plus warranty 30 days or 1000 miles before the factory 3yr/36k mile warranty expires. You'll have to pay out of pocket instead of financing it in the loan, but if you do it that way you can see if you think you'll even need an extended warranty. If you get the warranty and finance it in the loan, and then you sell the car in 2 or 3 years, it will be difficult to recoupe that cost even though the warranty is transferrable. Its something that is nice to have when selling a used car but its more of an inticement that nobody wants to pay extra for.

I bought the Silver+Plus when I purchased my car 2 months ago. I cancelled it before 60 days and got the entire amount refunded. Of course they sent it to the finance company but that means the car will be paid off 3 months sooner.

Good luck

BigMike has a point. I bought it with mine then got the refund. some things are bs. I was going to stick them for tire rotations (I was going to have them break the tires of the rims and swap them). I chnged to synthetic oil and nissan would not put it in unless I paid more. It is a waste of money IMHO

Also, if you plan to do any mods to your car, you can add the cost of the "security" plan to your mod total cuz the extended warrentee will be worthless.

Thanks for the help. I'm pretty sure that I'm going to get the gold plan $1914.00. I'll probably keep this car for at least 7 years so it might pay off in the long run. Thanks again
