for my 3rd transmission change, the dealer also said i need a clutch and flywheel. at the time, i was hard up for cash (i think they quoted 1200.00!!!) so i asked if they were broken? the dealer said they are not "broken" but it would be adviseable to change with the new tranny. I didn't have the money, but a year later the transmission, my clutch, and the flywheel seem to be fine.

Clutches and other "normal wear" items do have a warrranty. Unfortunately, they tend to expire at 12,000 miles. They figure that after that, you could have caused any problems that you have.

You can tell your dealer that my dealer was going to replace the clutch under warranty when they replaced my tranny. I took the opportunity to upgrade the clutch. I would ask them specifically what's wrong with the clutch, get them to show you the part, and call Nissan Customer Service.

If it has worn prematurely, you should get one free.

No. The drivetrain warranty is 60k miles and I forget how many years (4?).

My clutch was replaed under warranty with my new tranny at 17k miles. Believe it or not, I also had my drivers burnt orange leather seat redone because the bolster leather was wearing through after only 2 years. They replaced that under warranty also.
