Default States requiring front plates, what do you do?

I think the Z is a lot sexier with out the stupid front plate, unfortunately being in NJ I'm going to have to deal with that problem. I'm just not going to put a front plate on there, what do ya'll do, NJ or any other state requiring a front plate. (stupid law...)

Z bracket. It looks fine to me. It's not worth the trouble.

CA it is required. Not one on my Z, but if a cop does pull you over you could give him many excusses such as i dont wanna drill the front of my car and im waiting to take it to a shop, or some people put in in their window...dont know it that works. Overall isnt it just a fix-it-ticket?

yes its a fix-it-ticket...

I've been warned in my old car (3000GT) and nothing happen...

I don't have a front plate on my Z, and I live in CA also.

I think it looks bad but IF i had to, i'd just zip tie and take it off once and awhile

I used 4 zip-ties. Cheap solution. I'd rather have it on than get hassled by a cop.

Front plates are needed as a law enforcement tool.

If you don't want to put one on, that's fine as you don't whine if you get called on it.

Agreed!

If I ever do get pulled over for this reason, I was going to just use the excuse that I didn't want to drill holes in my front bumper and I already ordered a specially made bracket online and am currently waiting for it to be shipped. If that doesn't work, oh well, I deserve the ticket and the hassle of clearing it.

Yep, here in Oregon we have the same problem. I ran almost a year without a front plate when I finally got nabbed. They dropped the ticket when I appeared with the plate on. ++11 on the Z bracket.

Failing that, I've seen a lot of folks that have simply ziptied it to the grill. Kinda tacky if ya ask me.

With a little time and simple tools, you should be able to make your own bracket to slip behind the grill with some simple panhead bolts on the face and nuts in back.

Run with it, run without and takes yer chances.

+1... Just try not to attract attention to yourself when you're around a cop.

drove my 93 300zx with no front plate for 3 years and got pulled over twice. Both times i told the officer the whole front of the car is fiberglass and there are no holes to put the screws in and if i screw in a hole it will crack the whole front of the car. They let me go heh.

Im in NJ and I dont have a front plate. My town is very small, about 2 square miles with 3-4 cops on duty at all times, they seriously give kids tickets for riding their bikes on the sidewalk. Anyway last summer, in my previous car I didnt have a front plate and the windows were tinted, they have a random state inspection on the main road though my town, with a state truck there doing full inspections, emissions and all. Well I get stuck in it, they stop me for no plate, then see my tint, tickets for both and they scrape off my inspection sticker, do a full inspection and throw a rejected sticker on there. Was kinda pissed but got a new sticker at work the next day, (no i dont work there anymore and cant get stickers).

Now I work for people that are close friends with the cops in the town so they dont bother me anymore. No front plate on the Z and smoked tails. The did pull me over yesterday though for 64 in a 40, but they just told me to slow it down a little. I think most cops will somewhat respect us not wanting to put the plate on the front of such a good looking car. And if they dont, its a $44 ticket. Pay to play.

My lack of a front plate was caught by a parking cop and I got dinged extra for the front plate on top of the expired parking meter. They never would've noticed without it. Right now mine is affixed with wire ties. I paid the full amount on both tickets because I was too busy to take the car in for the fix-it ticket on the front plate

An friend of mine told me about a trick they have been using over at e46fanatics.com. They get a legitimate license plate bracket and destroy it. They run it over, break it, drag it on the pavement so it looks all scuffed up. They bang around the front plate itself a bit too. They they keep both in the car, under the seat. When/if they get pulled, they give a sob story about how they just hit something and that the plate just fell off. That day. Supposedly it works. It's worth a shot to me. Front plates kill the clean look.

Fine with me, this is coming from someone with half a family of cops, detectives, and prosecutors.

"Uncle Danny doesn't have a front plate on his cars, I'm not putting one on mine."

"Uncle Danny has a ****ing badge, you don't."

Funny exchange between my father and I. I'm partial to the front plate, if it looks good to me with the Z bracket, fine, if not, I'll roll with no front plate and if I get stopped, oh well for me.
