For those waiting for a 350Z spyder.... This image was created by Motor Trend and featured in their magazine a few months back. This IS NOT an official photo of the spyder itself. Motor Trend's Photoshop guru chopped the rook of the standard press shot of the 350Z is all.
Most of you have most likely seen this... but just incase, here it is again. The car will be shown sometime late this year from what I have been told. October/November area... then in showrooms early next year. Feb/March 2003 is what I was told. Dealerships are NOT taking orders on these yet, but you might be able to find one to take $1000 of your hard earned greenbacks as a deposit towards the car on the condition that if it doesn't come in, you buy a 350Z instead.
Trust me people, it's coming.![Smilie](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
No official word yet on models available (although I have heard two versions will be available, one based off Enthusiast and one off of Touring) or price area. I was told Nissan was trying to keep the cost close to the s2000, lower if possible. I have a feeling this car will take a serious bite out of the s2000/Boxster market.
More as I get it...

The thinbg that worrys me about the convertible is that I think the best looking part of the Z is the back end, and obvioulsly the convertible is going to look different.

For what it's worth, here's my deal. First, while the performance is definately there, the roadster version could suffer in a few ways, not quite being up to snuff to the competition or the origional 350z itself. One, the most dramatic part of the Z is its sweeping roof line that comes to the aggressife crease at the end. This is what gives the car its fast look and really sums up the "cutting edge" performance and style of the whole car in one simple line...remove it, as the above pic shows, the car looks more like just generic. The other possible disadvantage is that the Boxter and Stook, which both look great, were designed as roadsters from the beginning, where the 350z is just a modified coupe. Now we havn't seen anything final yet so I shouldn't make that call just yet, cause Nissan could blow us away with the spyder, just like they did with the coupe. I hope that Nissan doesnt just go the easy, least expensive route of simply cutting off the roof...but well see in a few months.

having more choice is a good news to me though, as some people enjoy havin no top than looking at the back, it's a good news to the future customer~but then not me, cuz i don't like it anyways~

Another car that doesn't look nearly as good in convertible form in my opinion. That doesn't even account for when the top is up.
The only ones that I have seen that look very good are the ones built to be a roadster with the top off in the first place and can add hard tops.
Looks like the roofline on the Z will be a little tricky for a sunroof.

I am waiting patiently for the convertible and I would disagree with the previous posts. Now, the above picture looks a little odd but it is just a artificial drawing. I believe most cars look better in roadster form. If the Toyota MR2, Boxster, Z3, or S2000 had sloping hard roofs I don't think they would have the special roadster look. I usually like it when the folded back roof sits up a little bit, like the Porsche 911 or the S2000 with the boot on it. The modded pictures always have it sitting flat. I believe it will still look good. See below
