You can turn the traction control off. I call it the anti-fun button.

If it's like the G35s you still have to pull the fuse to completely turn off the TCS. I'm sure that car will ultimately oversteer with all that off. =) Piece of mind tells me to keep it the way it is when I get mine.

Turning it off seems to turn it completely off, no fuse-pull required. But you will have a warning light in the instrument panel, and you have to turn it off every time you start.

I leave it on unless I am going to be really pushing the car. It can react faster than you can and will keep your ride on the road especially in rain or snowy conditions. Without TCS it would be a pain to drive in the winter. I view TCS as a great option when you are just tooling around town or if your wife is driving the car.

Just get the base model and then you won't have to worry about the 'anti-fun button'.

I'd be interested to see if the two systems are different or not. I would imagine they are the same ... therefore more testing needs to be done. =) You would think that they'd turn it off when you hit the off button but who knows... car manu's are funny.

from a non technical aspect, I turned it off, floored it, and the wheels spun to high hell, tcs should have stopped that if it were still on. proceeded to take a turn with the wheels still spinning, fish tailed, brought it back under control and drove on. at no point did any traction control show its head.

they must be different.

The other day I showing a friend of mine the car, and drove on an empty cul-de-sac like a skidpad. With the TCS/VDC on, the car would understeer at the limit, and remain in total control even if I floored it in the middle of the turn. When I turned off the TCS/VDC, the car would still understeer at the limit, but when I punched it, I went right into a donut.

Also, at the AutoX I found that turning it off really made it easy to power through a turn and let the *** hang out.

Therefore, I strongly believe that the system in the G35 and the Z are quite different, and that the Z's system actually does turn off when you use the switch.

I would definitely recommend the traction control for street driving, but would turn it off when tracking or Xing the car.
