Have to chime in here. Tell me if you still gotta love the home equity once the prime rate jumps up. One thing I will say is if you stick to making huge payments on the home eq then its not such a bad idea. But for any average home owner with other bills, that would be an extremely foolish move to make. They will be paying interest only for 10 yrs if they make the banks requested payments and their rate will constantly be adjusting depending on what the prime rate is. Generally it is not wise to take equity out of an appreciating home in order to pay off a depreciating automobile especially when you can get a car loan for around 4% or so with excellent credit. As for a HELOC with excellent credit you may be lucky enough to get a prime minus a quarter rate which for the last 6 months or so would be a 5.75-5.8 rate.

Some of you guys got big $$$ or something...some of those numbers seem off?
No down payment
60 months at 4.5%
27k OTD
$490ish a month
Forget the typical downpayment, I used that money for other investment "vehicles". Why put 15K towards something that will depreciate?
