Default seat clunk issues... solution may be coming soon

I took my car to the dealership this sunday regarding some issues about my Z.

Anyways they had some engineers from Nissan Japan looking at my car and are going to take my seat back to Japan to resolve this issue. Apparently Nissan is recognizing the seat clunk as a official issue. I'm not sure if there is a service notice on this yet, but they are going to fix it. As soon as I get more news I will get back to you fellow Z fans.

just got off the phone with the service manager and appantly there is a bar with a C-clip welded on that holds the seat cushion in place. The bar has a little freeplay and that is the clunk sound. Nissan is aware of the problem and is working on a fix

Thanks for the update. I have the clunk when I turn right, so I'm interested to see how Nissan handles this.

Default Question???

When you say clunk are you referring to the driver seat moving when cornering? I have this and was trying to find some post on this. It's just feels like the seat shifts when taking a corner.

Please Advise

Default Seat clunk

Count me as a new owner who has experienced the same seat feeeling and noise when I corner. I also feel Nissan could have done a better job sound proofing the rear wheelwells as it sounds like your in a drum when the sand on the road kicks up. You southern guys may not notice it as much but once we sand the roads for snow it is apparent.

My third Z (72, 85) and I love it!!!!

Silverstone Performance 6MT, guards, kick plates, mats, 18 rims traction sys. and clear bra on it's way.

that's funny, i noticed the same thing since day 1 but never heard anyone else mention it. you hear every piece of gravel that's kicked up in the wheel wells. ditto on the seat shift, annoying

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=12603

you can also do it yourself and dynamat the well area.... for about $150 you can buy dynamat on the web.... this will be enough to do the entire car. Or you can buy dynamatish stuff on ebay..... much cheaper, a little heavier but it will still work

Wow, the seat clunk problem!! You meant the one I have had on every Nissan without power seats I have ever owned? Dating back to the original SE-R I had!!!! There has always been a fix coming!! Don't hold your breath, just enjoy your cars.

YES! This is what I'm having. It's much more worrisome than just a clunk... the seat actually moves when cornering...

Yes, the seat slighty moves. No big deal. Nissan idiosyncracy.

removing the c-clip and installing a thin washer should stop the movement. may not be that easy but it would be worth a look.

An Even cheaper way of doing it is to go to Lowes or Home Depot and get stuf called "Frost guard" its JUST LIKE dynomat, and about 1/2 the price, thats what i use in my stereo installs, a roll is enough to do 2-3 cars, lol
