Default 10,100+ 350Z's delivered through November

Got an email from nissannews.com today announcing their sales figures:

http://www.nissannews.com/?http://ww...23125423.shtml

Maybe that's why Zgirl saw so many Z's in Jersey, and I saw one myself, too (in Blue Ash, Hunt Rd.... was it anyone from here?).

Why would nissan limit production? They need to make money somehow, and while the Altima does sell well, they're still down overall. While Nissan does *hype* the Z cars heritage they are still out for cash. ~400 million people in america so 30,000 Zs a year is a drop in the bucket. If all things stayed constant Nissan would have to sell 30,000 Zs for 100 years to equal 3/4ths of a percent of the american population. Not to mention the profits made off selling the Z allow them to produce other great cars, and make current cars better.

Unique = $250,000+ cars

That's odd as the highest VIN number I've seen is around 7600 Are they numbering them different out of north america?? With the exception of the 8 other "Z's" I saw several weeks ago at the nassau meet, I've never seen another "Z" on the road and I live in the NYC metro area... I have seen 2 others that were parked.. I keep getting comments that this is the first one they have seen.. And.. get this.. I've seen 6.. yes.. 6 Hummer H2's in 4 days.. And they were all different ones!!

"Z's" common... No way..

I just got my car yesterday, and it was in the 6000's. Maybe they count the cars not yet delivered as sold.

When you say ~400 million in America, I assume you're including more than the US. Current US population is under 300 million according to the US Census:

Dang.. I'm pulling numbers out of my butt.... lol. Move my estimates up to 1% all things staying equal for the next 100 years. =)

The first works if you estimate the total in 100 years and take the mean amount(give or take about 37 million) - so in 100 years at the current growth of the US population ~.6% will own a Z car. Also includes no Z's dying.

EDIT: Thanks for the info - My R&R class estimated it at 320 million... I'm not sure where the other 80 million came from(probably that claritin + sudafed + 6-pack of DP)

The US pop. is just below 270 mil. (I have to know these things from all the political arguments I stumble into.)

I actually saw a Z just a mile from home today. But I no see he see me Z. That's #4, all CS.

I saw:

1 redline this morning on the way to work.
1 daytona blue last friday.
1 silver thursday.
1 silver sunday.

They are popping up everywhere. Then again, I see more Boxters & Carreras (sp?) on the road than Z's.

Here in Chicago I've only seen 1 other Z besides mine and it was just the taillights in the distance, it was silver. I saw a silver one when I took my amp in for replacement.

Whenever a friend or co-worker sees a Z anywhere they feel the need to tell me...

"Hey, I saw a silver one on the expressway"

"Hey, I saw a silver one on Michigan Avenue"

"Hey, I saw a silver one parked on Damen"

A friend finally saw a Sunset one the other day and it was aparently NOT me. I'm wondering where the other colors are.

For more info on how often other members have seen Zs other than their own, check out this thread...

Also, do not assume because your VIN# is 6### or 7### that means only 6### or 7### have been made and delivered. Remember, there are two sequences of VIN#s based on whether your ordered side air bags or not. It is very possible for there to be, for example, two cars whose VIN# ends in the digits 3456 because one could be 003456 and the other 103456.

Are you sure about that, I know that the sixth digit shows side airbags or not, but I don't know that we have ever seen two Zs with the same last 5 digits with only the sixth digit different?

I'm pretty sure that they do have different vins for US and non-US. At least that's what Mitsubishi did with my car way long ago... If you had NY in your VIN, then your car was meant to be in the US. I am not sure if there is something like this for the Z, but I don't see why there wouldn't be!

the 2001 sales were leftover 300ZX's. My dealership sold there last one 2 yrs ago. As far as the vins go, this is from the fsm:

My dealer says that they sell 3 Z's a week, and this is a medium sized dealership in Connecticut. Imagine what Universal or Courtesy must sell.
