Redneck road-rage attack
I think that calling the cops is a good idea to cover your back, but I would run in a second if something crazy happened like that to me. As long as you are careful and not endangering people, who cares if you don't come to a complete stop at a stop sign or run a red light in the middle of nowhere with no traffic around. I've been in the car with a friend before and some guy brighted us because we were in the right lane and the car beside us passing in the left lane wasn't passing fast enough so the guy assumed we were together being jackasses and blocking the highway I guess. He brighted us and passed and then we brighted him and turned off and he slammed on his brakes and chased us back to my friends house. He got out of his car with a bat and we told him we thought he was a freind of ours because of his car,
. He cussed at us some but my friend was a pretty big guy so he left. Any ways, people are crazy and I'd rather have a ticket than a messed up car or be dead on the side of the road.

The last time something like this happened to me i ignored the person who was trying to start some S*** for no reason, i then drove down this road i lived on and they proceeded to follow me so i pulled into someone elses drive way, then when they drove pass me i backed out and followed them keeping distance and called the police.. i reported their plates and kept following them, that was when they noticed me and started to try and evade me (Z out handled the eclipse). So we played cat and mouse for awhile while i was on the phone with the dispatcher letting her know i was following this person and 5 minutes of chasing this bastard she said "are you on Lake Road" me: "yes" her:"there is a police car with his lights on who is going to past you" me:"ok"... then i see the cop car and he hauled *** pass me turning off his lights and catching up to the Eclipse. I slowed down and did the speed limit and drove up to the scene pulling into a driveway with about 6 other cop cars who responded... these two mexican guys were outside of the car with their hands on the trunk and legs spread getting searched... i spoke to an officer and he explained to me that they were drunk and had some drugs on them. He also said that he was glad that i showed up too because i can file charges against him. They also got videos from a couple of traffic lights showing him running through 2 red lights. When they pulled over that guy the cop clocked him at 96 in a 35 zone. This occured late at night.. around 12am so good thing there wasn't anyone out at that time of night otherwise i would of just reported him and leave... but sometimes you need to get these dumbasses off the road and if you don't file a report and just let them get away, someone else can get hurt.. it just all depends on how you handle the situation. At one point the two guys stopped in the middle of the road and got out of the car and started saying stuff. They could of had a gun or something but i was prepared for it keeping like 5 car lengths away and had an escape route already in my mind. I live just outside of houston in a small town called Lake Jackson which has a lot of rednecks and stuff who tend to get crazy.

Yeah, easy for you to say genius. Unless your a huge musclehead type or some kind of badass I'd like to see you beat this guys ***. There were two of them to. I didn't get a good look at the other guy but the driver trying to attack us was 6' 250 easy and he wasn't fat, just big with a bushy beard and tatoos (scary lookin mother). My friend is about 5'6 130 (skinny) and I'm about 6'1" 200. I'm the type of guy who values his life and even if I could f*ck this guy up I'm smart enough to know its not worth it cause he's probably haten life and doesn't give a sh*t what happens to him but I've worked hard to mine worth living. Some people have nothing to lose and those are the people you have to look out for. Those of you who have family can probably relate. Sure, If I was crazy enough and had a weapon I could of got the best of those guys but then I probably would have been arrested. Crazy=stupid, and if your lucky enough to live that long with your attitude maybe you'll grow up and realize what I'm talking about.
TYE I agree with you
I had a buddy that got into a similar situation with a road rage scuffle (who is a brazilian ju-jitsu black belt) and the bottom line is that he was out numbered and out weighed. He ended up popping one of the guys shoulders out of socket , but the other two guys just beat him good.
When you are out weighed, out numbered sometimes it is better to go about your business. Not to mention it is not worth going to jail over some idiots... don't sink to thier level

Something that comes along with the priveliege of carrying a handgun is the restraint to only use it when 100% necessary (don't even chamber a round unless you are fully ready to fire the weapon). Not only do you have to be sure that you are in danger of serious bodily injury and/or death (saving property doesn't work), but you also need to escalate your force accordingly to the threat (shout, shove, show, shoot is the general rule of thumb, but like any ROE can be modified on the fly).

you did the right thing. Getting your *** kicked or blowing someone away, not matter how much of a scumbag he/she is, would have definitely ruined your day...
But....you could have at least gotten a license plate number off the vehicle he was driving. With a little research, you could have found out where he lived, and then you could have taken care of his @$$ at your own time...

Fair Enough man. If you were afraid, then running away was the best thing for you.
I'm just a 300lb Man that has grown up in Red Neck country. I have had do deal with these people all my life and you always stand your ground. By standing your ground you are actually de-fusing the situation, as a couple blows usually ends it. None of this destroying property, shooting or stabbing. Just get out and fight for a minute or two and its over.
I appologize for insulting you.

Here in California, it's better to get yourself out of a situation like that, than to confront and let it escalate. Who knows, the guy can have a death wish and a 9mm ready to go off.
A relative of mines got into a road rage situation once. He decided to stay and fight, pulled out his baseball bat, and the next thing he knows, he's spending half a decade in jail because he nearly killed the other guy.
Fighting is a last resort in situations where you have no idea how your enemy stacks up. I wish the world was fair where we all could get out and "fight for a minute or two and its over".

Additionally, whether you're 125 pounds or 300 lbs (you should really diet), no amount of "I'm a tough guy" ground-standing is going to stop a bullet. What's to keep Joe Redneck from shooting you and claiming self defense?
If I were Tye, I wouldn't look at your statements as an insult, I'd look at them as proof that he did the right thing because he did contrary to what you would do.

Your statement proves that you are as dangerous as the guy Tye spoke of because it might make your pecker feel just a little smaller if you back down, so there's no "enough is enough" for you. Additionally, your confidence in some B.S. code of ethics that "We won't destroy each others property or use lethal force, we'll just stand out here in the street and swing at each other until we feel like real men" is ridiculous, and I certainly would choose driving away before placing any faith in that.

People like you without honor or self dignity will be the downfall of America. Plain and Simple.
Its the "Pussification of America".
The more people cower, the more the violet and un-civilized will know they can take it. If everone would stand up and not be pushed around we would have FAR less violence in society.
As for being armed, your argument is proof of a bigger problem. As more people find it acceptable to "play the victim" and choose not to arm themselves, those that are armed and of low moral character will become bolder in their agressivness. If everyone would ccw, America would find its violent crime drop dramatically.
An armed society is a polite society.
You can try to justify it any way you want, but human beings are what they are by nature, agressive predators that take the path of least resistance.

I Think a lot of us don't see eye to eye because of our geographic culture differences. Its a Red-State / Blue-State Thing.

That's exactly it.
While I agree that an armed society is a "civil" society, albeit a forced civility (though arguably, not as civil as a society in which there are no personal weapons... which like Utopia, is a fiction), I also agree that a bit more discretion in moving to violence might be warranted. You never know if someone else is going to jump up the ROE chain and decide lethal force is necessary. Not to mention, that if you're in a fight with someone and then need to use lethal force, you can be found partially liable for the other person's death (even if it was in self-defense) -- it's the difference between Justified and Excusable Self-Defense (Justified being where you had no part in bringing the altercation about and Excusable where you did, unfortunately, this also requires a ridiculous procedure of withdrawing from conflict and retreating in order to escape a murder conviction).
The way I look at it (and this is just IMVVHO), I would have driven off rather than standing my ground just on the slight possibility that this guy was armed and I would have to pull out the USPc, dispatch this guy, and then spend a LONG time trying to convince a jury (who are probably all related to this guy) that I made all the proper "retreat-like" maneuvers (and then I would still be WAY open to civil liabilities, and there's no way i'm going to pawn the Z to pay for some moron's kids to eat).
Just my $.02
Wow, you guys amaze me. I can't wait for the headline. See if anyone one you of have read a similar story....
Man Shot Dead Over Lane Change
The driver of a vehicle on the highway shot a man dead yesterday. According to the police report, John Jones, the driver of a Honda civic was southbound on I-95. He stated the driver of a 350Z cut in front of him without signaling in heavy traffic. Mr. Jones told police he flashed his lights and “flipped” off the driver to convey his displeasure. According to witnesses, the driver of the 350Z slowed down, changed lanes, and at 60 mph, exchanged heated words and gestures with Mr. Jones. It appears both agreed to pull over and settle the incident like men. In an effort to reach the shoulder quickly, both vehicles committed multiple traffic violations. The driver of 350Z cut off a family of five in a Chrysler van and forced them to the right side of the highway. Most of the rest of the report is based on an interview with the driver of the van. He told Police his first concern was for his six-year-old daughter traveling in the front seat. He said the driver of the Nissan exited his vehicle first and he was surprised such a big man emerged from the small sports car. The Nissan driver quickly approached the Honda screaming for the driver to get out “so I can kick your ***.” The witness said Jones was seen reaching for something under his seat. The driver opened the door of the Honda and fired two shots, killing the other driver immediately. The second bullet entered the rear of a car passing in traffic, hitting a passenger and causing the driver of the car to sideswipe two other vehicles, injuring three people seriously.
Police indicated that Mr. Jones will be held on a second-degree murder charge and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a highway. Other charges may follow pending completion of the investigation. It has been determined that Mr. Jones has a permit to carry a concealed weapon but he has been suspended from his job as a traffic safety engineer until the resolution of the case. Mr. Jones was able to secure the $100,000 bond by signing over the title to his house and has retained multiple attorneys to defend him against the charges and the civil cases that are expected to be filed against him. The District Attorney was quoted as saying Jones may employ a self-defense strategy but will spend considerable resources defending the charges, settling the civil matters and that his life will be changed forever.
The identification of the Nissan driver is being with held until the authorities are able to notify the next of kin.
In a press release, the Chief of Police said how stupid this was. Fifteen people had their lives dramatically altered all over the perceived insult of being cut off in traffic. He was heard to ask, “Why can’t people walk away from these things when they happen? I guess both men proved how tough they are.”
So, go ahead and fight next time someone insults you. I would rather flee and retain everything I have worked for than spending everything I have to prove I made the right decision in those few seconds on the side of the road…..
