Unfair and Evil speeding ticket

Unfair and Evil speeding ticket
I was driving home on Sepulveda in LA... a windy two lane road that gets alot of fast sportscars and has a 40 mph speed limit. I was doing about 47-50, no big deal, same as everyone else on the road. I look in my rear view and see a black older model Porsche Carrera (96', I think) zooming into towards me. The car was going insane, when he found a gap between my car and the SUV next to me... he zipped in and took off... suddenly going at speeds of upwards of 100 mph. I was wondering what spooked the guy, and contemplating his driving skills/insane disposition when boom! I saw the blue and reds flashing behind me. I figured that was I good thing, and drove for about half a mile waiting expectantly for the cops to fly by me and get the guy. I heard a voice from the loudspeaker "Pull over to the side of the road" and went "Oh my god....". I knew right away what had happened. My car is black, his car was black, both are small sportscars.. the cop recorded an insane reading and flew out into the open... by then the Porsche was around the bend and I was caught in the open. I know have a 74 in a 35 speeding ticket, and I'm not sure whats going to happen to my license. The cop laughed when I told him about the Porsche, and explained to me that a court of law would do the same. I am pissed, and probably about to lose my license.
BTW-because I drove on so long... the copper gave me an extra fine for "speeding in a construction zone" although where he clocked the porsche there was nothing but open road.

My experience is that the officer may have been slighted or offended by your childish and immature behavior, which I can see exhibited in your post. Also, I would imagine that you were speeding and that he did clock the correct vehicle. A Porsche looks nothing at all like a 350Z from the front or back and if you think an officer could mistake the two you are out of your mind.
Officers know as much about cars and how to distinguish between them as any other profession.
You sir, were speeding, and thats fine, but dont whine and ***** like a school girl when you get busted for it. I speed, I get tickets, I get out of some or have them reduced, but thats the price of driving fast, live with it or change.
Goddam crybabies.

Baven... shut the f*&k up... you know nothing about cali cops, and nothing about this road... I do, lived there for quite some time... Based on my experiences with the police in the area, and the other drivers on that stretch of road... (Sepulveda was my daily commute for about a year)... I have no problems believing him...
Unforunately zootsuit, looks like you're in a bad predicament... lawyer time definitely, wreckles driving charge is serious, and doesnt getting the ticket for the construction zone double the fine? ouch...

Dude, that totally blows! Not all cops, but definitely some are complete morons and it sounds like you met one. Good luck fighting that and I hope you can afford a really good lawyer because you're going to need one.
The only thing I can think of is if the cop didn't get the liscence plate, there's absolutely no way of proving it was you or the Porshe. Maybe there's a way to fight it there?

My deepest sympathy, man. That sucks to high heaven. I would try to fight it tooth and nail to the bitter end. I don't know, maybe bring in to court a picture of your Z and a black Porsche from behind to show the similarities?

So sorry to hear that man... You definitely need to fight it. Try do some research in the national motorist association website or hire a lawyer who has experienced in fighting speeding tickets. Good luck.

Fight it. Appear and tell the judge your story. It's believable and if you come across credibily, the judge should accept your story. You certainly don't want to pay the double fine in the work zone area when you were innocent of the moving violation in the first place. You have nothing to lose.
If the cop doesn't show, you win. If he shows, request a continuance and consult an attorney to obtain an expert that will testify that radar may not be able to distinguish between two vehicles.
If you don't prevail, request internet traffic school.
None of the above should be construed as legal advice.

zootsuit, Try to find out from the cop (if possible) where he first started chasing the porsche and see if you could have possibly have been in the same spot and could you have someone back your account of where you were. Did you leave work or somewhere that puts you not near where the cop saw the porsche. Im just throwing an idea out for you. Cop most likely won't help anyway but bring it up in court if you go. Bring up all the doubt you can. Id make a real stink in court and hey maybe you can catch the judge on a good day.
Good luck

Yeah, I agree with that. NYC cops and courts are ball-busters. And I got pinched doing 100 in a 40 (long time ago, long story). They gave me 11 points, and a nice fine, but I got to keep my license. But getting a lawyer sounds like a great idea. Can't hurt.

Yeah I'm in the same boat as you are, I got 4 tickets this weekend all in one shot..One for speeding, one for tailgaiting, one for not signaling and the last for no front plate.. I got a lawyer who is going to get all of these reduced, and instead of getting 11 point I will be getting only 2...By the way I was going the same speed as the rest the traffic was.. Long Island cops are the worst..they have nothing better to do..

If you do go to court, make sure you have big blown up pictures of the Porche and your Z. Make sure they are the same color and taken at the same angle so the judge can see the similarity and hopefully give you the benefit of the doubt.

I think there a law that you can file a discovery to get all the infomation about where the cop was when he clocked you and the maintaince scedule of the rador and stuffs like that. Oh, along with the argument of the similarites, don't forget to mention the porsche is moving at 100 and zipping in and out of traffic. There is a big possibility that the cop has been mistaken. If it were at night, even better chance to win. Just some ideas
