Default Adding cruise control to a 2005 base?

let's just skip the "should have got an enthusiast" speech, and get straight to the facts...... can this be done, i don't care if the buttons are on the wheel or not but after a lot of interstate travel my foot just can't seem to find a comfortable spot. i never used cruise in my old car but the z seems to have a very light gas pedal and presses down far too easy... any help would be greatly appreciated.

not easily...switches are the easy part, ECU changeout would also be required. I checked into this a while back and gave up.

actually the cruise control wiring is already setup.

look underneath your driver side panel. You'll see this blue cable connected to a switch.

Try the club (steering wheel club) for now, that worked for me when I had my base model. It really alleviated the strain on my foot. The only downfall is its kinda dangerous, ghetto to say the least, but you have to use your right hand to press the gas pedal when using the club.

I traded my Base on my 05 Roadster so no problems now.

I have yet too see a Base model get cruise. Its fly by wire so the ones the stereo places install will not work, I tried that 2 years ago!

Ok, here it goes... I have been reading all posts that state it cannot be done. This is just not in my vocabulary. Therefore, here is a little solution for the base model cruise control... Use a generic cruise control, like a Rostra Ultra Cruise II. It requires the following electrical connections; power, ground, brake, VSS, Tach and an accessory power. All of these are available in our 350Z’s. The VSS wire is in pin 26, gray 16-pin plug, at the Unified Meter and A/C Amp behind the A/C controls in the center console. In addition, the Tach wire is the blue one located at any one of the coils. Ok that takes care of the easy part. Now we want to have the throttle actuator grab a throttle cable, this is usually done underneath the hood. Run the cable into the inside of the car and have it grab and pull the accelerator pedal. The reason why the cruise control module is located in the engine compartment is because of the noise that is generated by the module is annoying. Hope this sheds some light on the dismal “350Z Base Cruise Control Issue”

What throttle cable are you planning on grabbing? The throttle body on our cars is computer controlled. Thats an electric servo motor openign and closing the butterly in the throttle body. There is no cable attached to your gas pedal.

Yes you will have to fabricate a bracket that will cause a pulling action for the pedal itself...you never try to get to the throttle body. Hence the routing of the acuator cable into the interior and attatching it to the gas pedal....

Yes I do have the HID's and I can get a LSD for a whole lot less than $3000.00 hmm. who spent too much now? I bought mine used for $20,000.00. I am sure I can pay for a few add ons with all that left over green. What's in your wallet?

This is just silly. Rather than try to rig something together I would just trade it up for one that has cruise or perhaps try adjusting your sitting position so you can be more comfortable...

If Arnold were here he could probably just break off your arm and you could wedge it between the dash and the gas pedal. But without Arnold all is lost...

Cruise control for the base? Besides the other 167 “cruise control base” posts, this is the first time we have talked about the subject.

I remember seeing in a Jc Whitney catalog a few years ago, that they sold a universal fit cruise control for something well under 200 bucks I believe.

I usually don't post to guys like you, but I am this time. Butt the heck out of this. If you can't add anything constructive, ShutUp. The guy likes his car, and wants to add cruise, why do you have a problem with that?

If i had it all, I would still go with the Entusiast for the 05. But there was a big price difference between the entusiast and the touring. 03-05 model years there was a $4500 difference.

If i were in the market again for the Z i would go touring this time cause the 06 price difference is only $2500.

No one is going cheap or what not, just personal preferences.... The guy wanted to mod his car with after market parts, to each is own...=)
