Default Update on my crashed up yellow zr

Just a quick update....after a person made a left turn in front of me (40mph) on monday both my wife and I ended up in the hospital and were released late that night. My wife took the brunt of it as the air bag hit her in the chest, bruising her sternum and possibly her right lung...The bags however saved us.

The Z is at the dealership and the insurance companied have not even made a move as of yet. The dealership estimates $17,000 - $20,000 in just parts, and thats without taking things apart. Waiting is awful. Either way repair it, or total it out, I lose. Pictures later on.

My wife and I are healing up but we really miss our car now.

BTW:
you can see me now driving in my hot red Pontiac Vibe, the best the insurance company would do....

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm glad you guys are doing well. As far as your rental I was almost stuck in the same situation. Apperently my Insurance had a good relationship with the rental company or maybe they were being nice. I just told them I had a Z and if I could get something like a G35 =). I ended up getting an 05 convertable Solara. Although it was over what my Insurance would cover they dropped it down so it would be covered. Never hurts to ask. I hope things work out for you guys.

canadian insurance companies suck... when my car was severly vandalized, they said since i had something sporty, the best they can do is a 2dr civic... or a midsize sedan :: i ended up with an Altima, 2.5. . .wasn't cool

sorry to hear about your accident, and i hope you and your wife get well soon and are reunited with your baby!

Glad to see you are both alright, remember cars can be replaced. With that much damage it will most likely be totalled. I think if the total cost is more than half the car's cost you can deem the car totalled.

The damage has to exceed 80% of the cars ACV (actual cash value) for the car to be totalled.

Um, my ins. company claims 60 to 70 % of the ACS? Is it different per state? Also, the way it was explained to me, sometimes it depends on the parts that need replacing. Such as the frame, motor etc mean more than a total loss on body etc. Just wondering?

I hope that you have gap insurance. if you do not you may be in trouble. a friend of mine got screwed even though he had gap insurance. get a copy of your policy and read it to get ready. Insurance is such a rip off !!!!! I have always had good experiences but i know a couple people who really did not get what they paid for
