If you're 35 or older, you probably know how to drive a car well, without traction control and or vdc.

Standing stop. Rev to 3500. Slip/drop clutch. Floor the gas pedal.

You'll see the difference.

Only on for rain, wet or other suspect road surfaces.

On for daily driving, Off for the track, Off for spirited driving. I have VDC and the car seems to perform better (acceleration for the most part) with VDC off.

I don't care what any of you say, TCS is dangerous.

You could be going thru a turn fast, go over some dirt, TCS kicks in, cuts the engine, the tail comes flying out, you hit the curb, crash into a tree

TCS has NO idea if you're turning or not. So as long as you do nothing but 100% straight line driving, then it's probably ok or safe to use. It wasn't engineered with turning in mind which is completely stupid

VDC is a different story

I always turn mine off as soon as I get into the car. I'd rather drive the car then have the car drive me, . If it's raining and I'm taking a trip or something where I know I won't be doing any type of spirited driving then I'll leave it on.

You can actually get quite a bit a slip with the TCS on. I practice daily in my parking garage and it's not hard to get the tail out without activating the TCS.

If you hit a patch of dirt in the middle of a turn that makes the tires spin, hold on, TCS on or off the car is going to try to explore new directions of travel and you should probably be paying attention.

Turn it off right after starting the car. I do it without realizing it now. Just became routine. But i keep it on in the rain.

yeah that's true, but one scenerio you have control of the car and can give the car more gas to try to regain rear traction. The otherscenerio is hold on for dear life, because even if you give the car gas trying to regain traction, the TCS won't let your inputs go thru to the engine

so it comes down to having control and a possible recovery vs no control and an inevitable wreck

If you had control a little dirt or sand would not have the wheels spinning so wildly that the TCS would take over.

If you play with TCS some more, you will find the only time it shuts you down is when the application of power far out strips the ability of the wheels to hold the road. Modulated additions of power at the threshold in and out of tire grip do not activate TCS.

oh come on, you know that when TCS activates, it goes on for a good 2 sec before it shuts off regardless of if the tires did a quick slip or massive huge slip. When you're in a situation where you have little time to react, TCS can activate for just enough time to screw you.

A little tire spin and the tail briefly kicking out just a tad wouldn't keep you from making your corner, but TCS coming on and cutting the engine for 2 sec sure could.

And all I am saying is the TCS will allow you to step the rear out quite a bit if you modulate the throttle.

But whatever, believe and do what you want, makes no difference to me. If your TCS is snapping on like that, you probably should leave it off.

I turned mine off routinely when I get in the car now.

Reason being is that I had it on one time when I was leaving my apartment complex. I was trying to make a quick left across traffic with traffic coming from my right also. I accelerated to get across the traffic coming on my left. As I was making the turn to get get in my lane, the TCS kicked in & cut the power to the wheels. Wasn't a good feeling having the power cut as I'm looking at traffic coming at me both ways.

Since then, always off........

yeah my car doesn't have TCS, my old one did.

My current one has VDC - which I pulled the fuse on because I got sick of stuff happening like what pgh2atl described
