Default What if the 350z had.....

What if the 350z had a high revving 3.5 litre V8 or a torque monster 4.5 litre V8 as opposed to the 3.5 litre V6 we have now? Just a thought I have been having about my car and I always wondered why Nissan went down in horsepower from the last generation twin turbo as opposed to up like they should have.

a V8 will upset the F/R balance of this car even more than now, plus it's added weight. Also add to the cost of this car.

I remember Nissan has announced the 2008 Z will be redesigned to be lighter and more HP from the VQ35, which I think is the right direction

You can never have enuf HP. Until my 350 can reach the HP level of my z32, I will probably continue to prefer the z32. Love the stiff chassis of the 350 though.

Where did you get this info... Not that I would complain, by my calculations I should be getting a 2008 Z. Now I can't wait, again

Agreed, but I was thinking about what it would be like to have the 5.6 liter from the Titan in our cars...

The Z was never meant to be some kind of supercar. It always had cutting edge design for its time and was designed to be a highly capable, yet affordable sports car. The departure from this ideal led to the demise of the car in 1996 after the 300ZX TT topped out at over $55,000. It priced itself completely out of it's target market. A BMW M3 today costs less than that!

The Z33 returns to the original roots of the car in terms of its design philosophy. As such, a turbo Z, or a significantly higher powered V8 is unlikely. And FYI, the normally aspirated Z32 car had a 222hp 3 liter V6, which at the time, was still considered to be a high output per liter engine, so in comparing apples to apples, there was a big power jump to the current car.

The Z has always been a six cylinder car since its debut in the seventies, putting a V8 in wouldn't seem right. Plus, as fun as it sounds, 450Z doesn't sound quite right yet.

3.5L V8? Thats a tiny V8.

If anything, they could bump up the displacement to 3.8 or 4.0L on the V6.

I love my car the way it is. No one will ever be completely satisfied.
