Default i need a hug

On my way to work this morning i raced an ls1 camaro (maybe and lt1 i forgot to ask) his was bone stock and so is my Z. I knew i was gonna lose and i told him that but i did it for fun anyways I kept with him for a little (just past the intersection hah) then he started to pull hard. At the next light we talked a little bit. I think he was a local high school kid. Anyway the point of the story. I paid twice as much for my car and i got beat by an asian kid in a muscle car (which was kinda ironic, no offense to anyone i just kinda thought it was funny cause i drive a Z and im really damn white) I feel bad cause i hate losing and i didnt wanna give him the line "i'll take you on the track/twisty. Why oh why do i torture myself.

Was most likely an Ls1. You would have been able to stick with a stock Lt1. Lt1s run low 14 sec. 1/4s. Ls1s run low 13 sec. 1/4s. I've had both.

So you're saying your Z runs low high 12's - very low 13's?

What does twice as much mean? An F-body with an LS1 was around $30K new...same as the Z. To be honest with you, people who don't track their car shouldn't be allowed to say you can beat people "on the track/twisty". I am not a track god but a good driver in an LS1 will probably beat out an inexperienced kid in a Z with no problem.

1st off you can get an F body z28 a 2001 or so on average for around 17 (which is what he had a z28 not an SS). second i dont exactly track my car but i do autocross on occasion and i know my car can handle better than his. thirdly what makes you say im an inexperienced kid in a Z? youre just making assumptions.

You are very right. I was making an assumption. I based it on your first post. It appeared as though you were some kid. If you aren't, please forgive me. You can't compare the price of a used car to a new one. By your logic, I can get a 92 Civic Hatch for under a grand, spend $10K under the hood and smoke 99% of the cars on the road. You still go home in a Civic. There's always someone faster. As long as you are happy with what you go home in, everything is fine. I have driven $150K cars that my 91 300ZXTT would have killed. I would have traded in a second for those cars but I was always happy with what I was driving.

you make a good point TK and i accept your apology. Its no big deal. I am happy with my car but every now and again i regret not buying something used and making a sleeper out of it.Then I remember the pain of discpline now or the pain of regret later and i'm 100% happy with my Z. (I just hate losing to a friggin stock f-body!!! hah I gotta drive better)
