Regret on my G35 6MT:
B&M Short shifter. AS soon as I can find a stock one, it's going back in.
20" Iforged aero wheels, 20x11, 20x9. Sure they look HOT as all hell, but they are SUPER heavy, and decent tires are over $400 a piece, and don't last long.
Ebay Billet grille. To "ghetto" for me.

Mods I love:
UR Pulley
Stillen headers (wow, a big difference)
TEIN Type CS coilovers. Stock-like ride until you push it to the limits.
Crawford Z plenum.
Turbo XS UTEC

I got rid of my B&M, replaced it with a 04 shifter I found on ebay (my Z is an 03). Very happy with stock!

regret:

-getting the UR pulley set - should have just gotten the crank pulley. (It was a huge pain to install the Alt pulley and there's not much of a weight difference)

so far, I'm enjoying the rest of my mods!

Sadly I regret both of my big mods so far:

Nismo Exhaust: I used to have a DSM with an HKS Carbon Ti exhaust. Wish I would have stayed with HKS.

KN Intake: I used to have an APEXi and my DSM. Wish I would have used a JWT or another APEXi on my Z.

Oh and I dont have the damn stock intake pipe anymore, anybody have one lyin around????

Ruthless, why do you regret the K&N?

Also, some have mention regretting the test pipes, but not why. Any insight?

(Woohoo.. 3 days of reading and now my first post. I just got my 350z last weekend)

test pipes often make raspy sounds if you get regular test pipes and have other breathing mods, unless if you have a turbo or possibly resonated test pipes

they shoot flames out the back which is cool but if a cop sees that, they'll pull you over

they're really really loud

they won't pass emissions

but they give you a little more power

What if you powdercoat or ceramic coat them? I ceramic coated my exhaust for my Kawi and it sounds deeeper and controlled than before. I definitely don't want raspy.. just a little deeper and louder, but I like the stock muffler.

Anyone else regret the K&N? Kinda hard to dislike an increase of 8-10 whp. It sounds too good to be true, but I consider K&N pretty reputable and have never been unhappy with their products before.

This is gonna be long...

Here are the mods I have and regrets:

1.) Work Emotion CR-Kai bronze wheels: The wheel looks great, but the size is too damn small! Work only offers up to 18x9.5, not 10.5 in this series.
2.) Buddy Club Racing Spec Damper: The sus is too soft for track uses, causing front tire to rub with inside fender when corner hard. The rear suspension is ridiculously high when its dropped all the way to the bottom.
3.) Skunk2 Intake Plenuem: Not able to install back factory strut tower bar and causing my intake manifold to rub against my hood.
4.) Central 20 Final drive: a lot of money for not much performance gain...very disappointed.

Honestly, I should just buy a turbo...stupid NA mods doesn't nothing and cost a fortune.

Aww nuts, you don't like the 3.9 final drive? I was thinking about getting it.. you really don't think it does much? I know you have to shift more, but what about in-gear acceleration??

I regret test pipes or HFC's... I personally just can't stand the noises and loudness that goes with them. Both the Kinetix cats and the Helix TP's that I have installed have given the exhaust an ugly tone at some point. The only ones I've heard that didn't sound horrible before were the Stillen race pipes on an Injen exhaust.

I regret the Helix test pipes (too raspy), so then I went to the Megan Resonated ones which were just as raspy, so I put the stock cats back on for now. I just don't want a $40k+ car with $15-20K in mods sounding like a Honda. Stock cats on for now, and will go with the AAM ones shortly.

I regret trading my Land Rover for the Z when my favorite two hobbies are mountain biking and snowboarding...

I don't however regret trading my rover for the Z because of the awesome "fun factor" i get from the Z.. I guess snow tires and that ugly bike/snowboard rack ive seen are my solutions to my problems, haha...

Oh, and I regret not being stinking filthy rich before I bought the Z so I could mod the poo outta it right away - Making my car payment on time and getting to keep it for at least the next month IS my mod...

I know this might seem like a useless reply as I dont list any actual mods, but considering your surroundings and your hobbies are pretty important things that could be very regrettable when buying a Z, imo.

I regret that Vortech does not have a better FMU solution...or should I say, such an agressive 10:1 pressure/boost increase.

I regret that with Stillen, you have to change your hood.

I regret that I can not afford to play! ha ah ha

But I love all my mods so far!

I wouldn't expect a big gain from just an exhaust, but 2100 is kinda steep for losing 21lbs.
