Default Clunking turning off the car?!?!

I'm horrible at describing sounds, but my new 05 base z with 4K miles on it is making this really weird "clunking" type noise whenever I turn the car off. I can't tell if it's coming from the engine bay or the tranny.

Anyone else have this problem?
I'm going to bring it in next week.

It's the tranny, and the short story is that it's "normal."

The long story is that it's difficult to make reasonably priced transmissions which can both handle a lot of torque, and stay quiet. This is why our trannies sound like they are from a UPS truck.

I've had mine into the dealer for this, they won't do anything about it unless the transmissions shows other problems.

I think it's the tranny. My Z does it as well.

Solution: Turn the ignition off while the clutch is pressed. You won't hear that clunking noise if you do that.
